Thanks for the very informative video. It helped me immensely. I just wanted to pass along to anyone who’s having trouble getting their camper refrigerator to cool on propane (mine worked fine on AC and DC) that a new LP gas regulator completely solved my problem. I was hesitant to replace it because my stove and water heater were working ok and I just couldn’t see how only the fridge could be affected, but I was wrong. After the new regulator was installed, I lit the burner on the fridge and I immediately knew it was fixed. I really had no idea what a properly operating gas fridge looked and sounded like. I would suggest to anyone else who is troubleshooting this problem to look and listen to your fridge burner. If it isn’t burning visibly bright and hissing audibly, it isn’t working properly. If your rig is more than 6-7 years old, it’s probably your gas regulator. Mine was 10 years old and I’m told that’s a pretty good run for one of these things. I found a Marshall regulator on Amazon for around $35.00, which is way cheaper than taking the old one in for testing and possible adjustment. It’s a simple job to install it. Hope this helps somebody.

Oh yeah! Worked like a champ for my problem. 15 min and the flame is roaring hot and the fridge is COLD overnight. Thank you!

Thank you for posting this video. I had a propane fridge issue and watch ever repair video I could find. I fixed every thing but the coils and still was having issues with it not being cold enough. I replaced my lp regulator And it was fixed. You are the only person to mention this as an issue! great vid!

Thanks for your kind words! Yes those regulators can clog with oil over time and restrict propane flow to you RV appliance. If you still have an issues after installing a new regulator it could be oil in the propane lines... It settles in the lowest part of the line and clogs it up as well! RV dealer once told me to empty a can of WD-40 in the propane line then blow out with compressed air! Happy this fixed your problem! Cheers :)

Beauty! Thanks a lot man, $17 for a can of compressed air in Oz so went to a tyre shop and asked to use their line, blew my 3 way fridge out and wada bing wada bang it fired up straight away!

Thanks for this video!! My frig works awesome on electric, but not on gas. I have checked, and the coil is getting SOME heat, but no where near enough, so I knew the pilot light was lighting, but had no idea about the flow. I got out the air compressor, cleaned it right up, and am testing it now. So far, it seems to be working.

thanks for the very comprehensive video. Was having a heck of a time keeping my LP fridge lit and had blown the flue out several times. I had not blown out the actual flame tube itself and it turned out to be a bunch of debris in the bottom of the tube giving a poor flame front. I knew as soon as it sparked up with a new clean even flame it was fixed. Thanks again

Yes i clean the flame tube at least twice per year! Happy it helped Cheers! :)

Hey awesome video I'm gonna try all your steps I'm having this exact problem with my rv fridge . It only works on electric and I had someone check it out and said my cooling system was bad. I went and disconnect all the power cables on the fridge for about an hour. Came back and power up the fridge again and put it on electric and it started coolant within 45 minutes. But it doesn't work on propane. My question ,can the cooling system still be bad and not work on propane? Anyway to test the cooling system? Thanks

Blowing out the debris on the burner worked for me (used an electric air pump). Thank you!

Man, wish my old Allegro had a wall top vent vs. the roof one! Accessing the top of the Dometic like that would be awesome! Had to pull mine to do work on the top portion. Thanks for the video.

Hey Dale. Good job. I'll have to remember this if I ever get another trailer. The last one I had, I gave up on the propane furnace and fridge. I swapped them over to 120v, I never really stayed anywhere without power anyway. Gotta be careful when blowing into orifices! lol Have a great weekend!
@Littlervrentals5 жыл бұрын
Thanks Bruce! A fixer upper trailer might be an interesting project for you... I was always told you can blow air into orifices but nothing else and never poke wire or anything in it or it's junk. Thanks for stoping by and checkin out the video! Cheers from B.C!

We just drove across the country, and now the refrigerator and the hot water heater pilot lights won't stay on. Is there a correlation with them both not working. We do have gas for our stove that works fine. Going to try and clean the refrigerator pilot now, great video. Thank you

Why can't we just attach a extention chord and let the fridge run on an inverter or zero gold yeti, is this possible???
@mexifin4 жыл бұрын
Also there are fuses in the electrical black box or the gas actuator may be faulty that turns gas on or off before the burner. and I noticed that you are missing the thermocouple to keep the flame going.
@Littlervrentals4 жыл бұрын
lol then how would the flame stay lit? This is an electronic ignition fridge
@mexifin4 жыл бұрын
LittleRVrentals.com maybe your model doesn’t have a thermocouple, But the Dometic RM 2652 does. I have changed it myself, wish I could send a picture .😉 Have a great day.
@JHJewellJr4 жыл бұрын
Well, that didn't work. The pilot light lights, there is a small flame, the tubing gets warm (not hot). However, none of my other gas appliances have any problems performing as they should, and the RV is only 5 years old. A regulator is pretty cheap, but I don't want to nickel and dime this thing.
