I made almost this exact recipe (your first one) with country style frozen potatoes that I found at the local salvage grocery. The bags were large and they were just a couple dollars each. I kept some in the freezer and used some for other families. Got lots of compliments and thank yous.

I just LOVE the Watergate Salad! Only problem is i would sit down and eat the whole bowl of it in 2 settings! I remember when everyone would help a family out with a meal during a illness or other life changing events. Neighbors would even get together and make sure they had a week or two in meals. Where has the spirit of helping a neighbor or elderly or homeless out? I still do this for my neighbors, especially a widow or widower. Going thru grief theu just won't eat just for themselves. Taking food to them helps with the grieving process. Now, neighbors just ignore each other in times of need. Thank you for keeping the faith and help out a neighbor. It would be a much better world if people would get back to some of the old ways. Bravo Renae!

Thank you so much for sharing! I am thinking about starting to fill my freezer with freezer meals. I am starting to have some health issues that can sometimes interfere with my ability to cook. How do I decide if a meal should be precooked or frozen raw? I haven't had Watergate Salad in years. I forgot all about it! Thanks for bringing it back to my memory!

Well You can make pretty much any casserole and freeze it cooked or uncooked, however, with potatoes I would advise you to cook the casserole first than freeze.
