I love this type of format of correcting Chinglish!! It's not necessarily only from celebrities. You can grasp any ordinary Chinese or any non-native speaker. I feel like I benefit most from this algorithm of "Errors Correction".

I'm impressed how easily you switch between Chinese and English. I sometimes have trouble with that; especially from English to Chinese.
I am amazed of your Mandarin speaking. Excellent analysis. The only miss I would say is that Liu did say "on the set" not "on the site". Really enjoy your video. Thanks.
I am so so so impressed by your Chinese. I couldn’t tell you were not a Chinese speaker before I saw your face. To be honest, your pronunciation of mandarin is much better than mine, a Chinese. Thank you for this Chanel and I learned a lot. You are amazing.

Somehow, I found one of your videos where you speak to people Beijing. Now I'm watching these tutorials. You are awesome. You know exactly how to express the same ideas in Chinese and English. Keep up the good work.

Hi Chris, is there any channel/website/apps that you can introduce to improve English? I think that my grammar is below average, and I want to improve myself. Appreciate your feedback!
Do you have a personal website or you post your videos on here KZbin only . Cause I would like to study American English with you if you have a series of lessons. Let me know. Thanks.

Thanks, Chris. Super helpful. The tips were practical and hit the blind spots often overlooked by local English teachers in Beijing. I grew up there and felt the pain when I first began speaking English

Hey can we plz try to avoid over-generalisation when it comes to what’s common and what’s not? No offence but America isn’t the only place speaks English as the first language, and I swear I’ve heard “that’s a very good question” many many times at my work- I work at an university in Australia, not sure if it’s the country or my specific work setting that explains the differences
@billshun39635 жыл бұрын
Li mamamia no, it’s not your specific work or an Australian thing. They used that phrase a lot in the U S especially in some TV interviews or something. Whenever a guest don’t know how to or don’t want to answer a specific questions.
Moved to US when she was 10 years, she must be a native speaker, from her English, sounded like she was there after her twenties.

我最搞不懂的就是 英语里面 if 条件句引导的对将来的虚拟的概念。就比如说: If it were to rain tomorrow, they would cancel the game. If it rains tomorrow, they will cancel the game. 这两个句子有什么区别吗?What's the difference between the two setences? 我虽然会用if条件句对将来的虚拟(因为格式记得清楚),但是一直不太懂这个句型表达的意思。 刚看了王嘉尔那个视频讲了虚拟语气,所以区别就在于虚拟语气更偏向于一种不可能的情况吗?所以上面两个句子的区别就在于,第一个句子指的“明天下雨”这个情况更加不可能发生吗? 希望懂的人可以解答一下。
Besides 'quite, really, super' you mentioned in video, I do hear some place use 'pretty'. For example, it's pretty hot today. It's a grammar mistake? Or it just shown up in oral English but not in written English?
@maxtang60885 жыл бұрын

Thanks for the quick response. Much appreciated. Have enjoyed the videos -- keep them coming. Still very much a novelty to see a 老外 bust out fluent Mandarin state-side.
"that's a very good question" is likely a canned response she has to give her some time to think of the proper response. I wouldn't expect a native English speaker celebrity to use that (maybe a lay person who doesn't regularly go on interviews), but it does seem like something that could be in a textbook.
@billshun39635 жыл бұрын
“ that’s a very good question “ on the contrary,celebrities used that phrase a lot. It’s more like an indirect polite response to an uncomfortable question. Of course it depends how you define what is a celebrity and who’s the celebrity. Queen of England probably wouldn’t used that phrase.
@johneyon52575 жыл бұрын
"that's a very good question" is a very common statement in interviews with americans - it may be - as you said - to gain time - but - just as likely - it's a question that the interviewee likes to hear - however - i hear it so often that it kinda annoys me to hear it
