Well you're totally wrong.... Day one was very good. Commentators were some of the best i've ever heard in golf.. It was great to see these new young kids and foreign players i had never heard of before. The players were sinking chips, hitting the flag pole from off the green. It was excellent. It's just going to keep getting better.

They should have spent more money on announcing. Made me realize how much Jim Nantz, Nick Faldo and gang add to a broadcast. I felt like I was watching the European tour. You're right it's a long term deal though. The new format might also get exciting later on if the competition is close.

Pay 200 million to get Faldo !!

What this format lacks is head to head match play that can happen in the typical PGA or Majors event. The fact that the leaders tee off last puts added pressure on the players. Ultimately, four rounds stresses the competitors the most. The three most famous athletes of the last forty years are MJ, Tiger and Brady. It is because each of them were able to handle pressure in the most competitive situations. Shotgun starts and finishes are great for you local muni tournament.

@@funkmobb9368 LOL, it might be better money spent than Phil! I think he finished 9 over. Even if Faldo actually played he might have shot better than 9 over!

@@JackRainfield It's an exhibition of players waiting to go to the senior tour except they won't be able to play in the senior's because the senior's is part of the PGA and they are suspended. LOL. For all you people who complain about the PGA doing nothing for the golfer here is a bit of history. The PGA sets up the golfer from the time he becomes a pro through his sixties. No other organization does that. The set up the development of the young players to ascend to the tour. When they get old they set up the Champions tour so these people can earn money into their sixties. They set up the LPGA. They go out and get the sponsors, venues, Television contracts the pension plan. They introduce these people to the top executives in the country. Does anyone think that that mentally challenged moron we know as DJ would ever meet a CEO. Maybe as a janitor. No other sport takes care of their aging stars. Do you think LIV is going to do that? Four of the top 15 greatest earners of revenue from sports are golfers. The PGA isn't perfect but it is also not terrible.

The event was great and fast pace. The gameplay was ok but RBC Canadian open was too boring especially the commentators and the format.

The format for golf to earn points is correct. Four rounds is a test of mental and physical stamina. Norman would be a Masters champ if three rounds were correct but the fourth day drained him. He fell apart both physically and mentally. Golfers for over 100 years have used Four rounds. Three rounds is like a 50 minute football and a 7 inning baseball game and a 40 minute NBA game. The end of games is what separates champs for pretenders.

Hey round 1 of any pga event is even more boring and difficult to watch. With 140 Players no shotgun. Ugh this has great potential.

The PGA Tour cannot stop players from competing in majors. It’s not run by them it’s ran by the USGA and they have their own rules for majors for example. Bryson, Phil, Sergio, DJ all have lifetime access for the majors that they won

For those guys yes but with no OWGR points all the others will not be in majors.

We still do not know the reaction of the PGA fans to LIV players returning to play majors. I would bet some players considering leaving for the LIV money will pay attention to that, because if you make a lot of money but lose all your fans, that could be an important consideration.

You got to ask yourself if the money was right, is there anywhere you wouldn't play? Would you have played in apartheid South Africa sponsored by the government for example? What if Vladimir Putin had a tournament, would you legitimize his regime by playing there and cashing in millions of dollars? The real question is about decency - are you a moral person or not? Should golfers be held to higher ethical standards than footballers or F1 drivers? My answer is a resounding YES!!! The founding fathers of golf were all gentlemen who played with great honour and a sense of responsibility because they were role models for society. Think of Jack and Arnold who established the PGA. It’s not all about money you know it’s also about history and legacy and being decent citizens of the world.

I agree! I think it’s going to take some time and there’s definitely some kinks to work out. The commentary was a tad cheesy. Felt they were overly excited ya know? Maybe they were excited because it is the first match. Personally I am excited for it. I bought tickets for the round in Portland!
