Hi Ashley! The Ultra Fine Point Sharpies do fit and work without being taped. Been using them since I got my DX125. I also just realized that the Tim Holtz Distress Markers with the fine and brush ends also fit, but I haven't drawn with them yet. Thank you for all your help!

Another great video Ashley....very informative. I have the calligraphy kit and find it skips bits too...will put some tape on my pens. I’m in Australia and found an online store in Melbourne that sells Zig calligraphy pens. I chose to buy the metallic ones which they sell individually. The Brother pens are identical to these pens as Zig (Kuretake) make them....I’m looking forward to Wednesday’s video...stay safe everyone..Big crafty hugs Ali xx

Ive only got the 3 pens that came with the kit, not bought anymore as not sure how often i would use them to be honest. but yes you have to make sure the nib sits into the slot in those little A & B buttons and i think they move with the pressure of the machine, so a little tape around the barrel may just help the holder grab onto the pen a little better but im still experimenting.

Margie Hart - wanting to make quilt labels: Use a Pigma Pen (available from Amazon or art suppliers) as it won't fade with repeated washing. Available in a number of thicknesses in the nib so be sure to check. 05 is the best for this when dealing with woven fabric (cotton).

I would try rubbing the pen with sandpaper in the area you have put tape, so the hold has so thing to grip

Hi Ashley, I looked on Amazon for the new slimline pen holder. I didn't find it but I did find one made by 3D Fun Printz. At £15.99 and with great reviews, I thought it was worth a try. I ordered one and it arrived today. It is really easy to use and takes everything from a pencil to a regular, fine point sharpie. No tape required ! I thought you might be interested.

Hi Ashley, could you possibly make a video on how to bring on each of the individual parts on projects in canvas. I can only do it by adding each part onto a different mat then bringing them together on another mat, if that makes sense. Thanks

No I don’t have that I would think a white jellyroll pen would work in one of the penholders

Re the small barrel pen holder, I dont have the problem of the pen moving upwards, but generally have the problem of tightening the holders - is it me !

Hi all mine seem to move slightly after they have drawn, i doubt it can be all of them faulty, so im thinking they move with the pressure of the machine drawing, so i thought if i add a bit of tape, not to necessarily fatten up the barrel but to see if the holder grips the pen better, thats why i am still playing with them Ive asked the question so will let people know if i get an answer from Brother. It doesnt tighten up as such the grey bit has teeth and they need to sit into the teeth on the white part of the holder, thats why you have to lift and turn so they slot into each other.

I am dead scared of breaking mine each time I do the lift and turn. I expect Brother think they have the holders sussed out but to me it almost requires three hands. I am waiting for my Small Barrel Holder to arrive, hopefully this week. Only had my SDX1200 a week and having heaps of fun. Thank heavens for geneous people like Ashley who give so much of their time and effort, without KZbin tutorials it would be a struggle

I dragged the words off the main portion and delete them before starting to draw the design in black, then i went back and added the words which i drew in green. thank you

Hi yes i said that in the live, the original small pen holder, the universal pen holder and the newer small barrel pen holder all fit in all machines, CM, DX,SDX thank you

Hi if you just want to draw greeting, then a fine line pen something like a 0.4 nib in any make that will fit into your pen holder, its a bit or trial and error to find what fits and what suits your needs. thank you

Just got a new ScanNcut SDX 225 yesterday. I have a brand new deep cut blade and holder? Can it be used with the SDX 225?

The SDX machine cuts deeper with its normal standard blade than the CM model machines. The deep cut blade is only for the CM machines

Hi i did say in the video but they are both in Canvas Workspace, you can get them from either version ie web or pc. Use the filter icon if online and type drawing or use the search box if using the pc version and again type drawing and they both come up.
