@@Catfish00150 No, we won our last one in '98, a couple of seasons after finishing #2 in the country with an 11-1 record and a bowl win over Ohio State. Never mind our previous 5 national titles and multiple SEC titles, so I guess we are at least even since you didn't win a title in the 90's. Everyone has their mediocre seasons, including Tennessee and Ohio State. We are in the process of returning to our usual place among the Top 10 of college football. In fact, after this Saturday commitment from David Sanders, the Vols flipped an Alabama four-star LB commit today.

@Catfish00150 Ohio State is a good team, and on the rise for sure. Michigan is out of the way now, so what else is up there, Oregon? Should be a pretty easy conference to win in for sure. Tennessee definitely needed him more for the SEC grind. Maybe the kid likes competition? Ohio state don't really have any to speak of. That's the down side of being the best team in a weak conference.

Actually, Tennessee is that good. Vols suffered thru a bad decade after Coach Fulmer retired, made some bad head coaching hires along with some lack of continuity and direction from the Chancellor on down. They have their house in order now and Heupel has been a surprise. Kinda a lukewarm reception when he was hired, but his 2022 11-2 Orange Bowl Champions got everyone's attention. Last season's "down" year of 9 wins with a shutout bowl win over Iowa would be a highlight season for most schools. For that matter, Tennessee's bad decade since 2008 has included mostly winning seasons, just not winning up to normal Vol standards. Long-time member of the Top 10 total wins and win% lists in college football, the Vols have had their ups and downs like every other program out there. I have personally lived through 3 eras of Top 10, SEC championship, National Championship eras of Vols football. The program has a lot more championship history than the 90's. Looks like we are entering another such era now under Coach Heupel.
