You don’t really need an external air intake for the heater. Iv’e installed my Eberspacher Hydronic (heats water) up in a high void under the deck without thinking too much about the summer heat…it was winter at the time…so when summer came around the extra heat cooked my first unit. When I replaced it with a new one that I wanted to stay working it dawned on me to draw the intake air from the space around the heater unit. Bingo, the unit stays cool all Summer. I do love the exhaust casting. I know what you mean about grinding Bronze. Half a lifetime ago I made the crescent Moon and Star Bronze castings for the Christchurch NZ Mosque (where the massacre was). When I was dressing up the quite large castings, no mask, I discovered how much dust I was taking in when a week later my Moustache turned green as the dust corroded. Oh, and you can get an insulating planket for the hot tube inside the boat. Not very expensive.

Hi I am not sure that the heater air intake needs to have an external fitting - on our boat the intake is purely internal great project though!
