The best "Paul McCartney can write a great song on the spot" story is this one from wiki about his song "Picasso's Last Words": In an interview on British TV channel ITV1 for the program *Wings: Band on the Run* , to promote the November 2010 rerelease of the original album, McCartney says he was on vacation in Montego Bay, Jamaica where he "snuck" onto the set of the film *Papillon* where he met Dustin Hoffman and Steve McQueen. After a dinner with Hoffman, with McCartney playing around on guitar, Hoffman did not believe that McCartney could write a song "about anything", so Hoffman pulled out a magazine where they saw the story of the death of Pablo Picasso and his famous last words, "Drink to me, drink to my health. You know I can't drink anymore." McCartney created a demo of the song and lyrics on the spot, prompting Hoffman to exclaim to his wife: "look, he's doing it … he's doing it!"

Best concert song! In Sacramento, two brothers ages about 7 and 10 and their parents were in the row in front of us. The boys knew all the Beatles songs but had no idea Wings even existed. This song starts, they are nodding along until the chorus. The pyrotechnic blasts timed with the orchestral frenzy ; those kids shot ups like rockets. At the end the youngest one was yelling at Dad "THIS IS THE BEST NIGHT OF MY LIFE!" Me too, kid.

I was ten years old when this movie came out, and I had zero context with regard to James Bond. I heard it on the radio one afternoon and was instantly transfixed. I couldn’t wait to hear it again. I slept with a little portable radio under my pillow that night, and when the station played it again (around 3am) I woke my sister up so she could hear it. I still love this song with much love.

You have to know at the time that any Bond theme that came before this were never Rock songs which since then is true for more than half of them. The producers first listened and wanted Shirley Bassey to do it but McCartney said take it or leave it. My version or you don’t get it. Killer tune and when he does it live it has pyrotechnics that really bring it out as a show stopper.

All time classic movie and movie soundtrack is Fast Times at Ridgemont High. We Got The Beat - The Go Go's. Written by Cameron Crowe (Almost Famous). "Nineteen Hundred and Eighty Five" by Sir Paul McCartney's Wings is a dope tune gentleman, the closing song from his amazing album Band on the Run. I prefer you both hearing a new song, so give it a try, you will not be disappointed. About this reaction, I prefer Sir Paul's version over GnR's, they didn't really make it their own. Like how Nazareth makes Joni Mitchell's "This Flight Tonight" 100% Nazareth, it F*cking rocks.

Hmmm, you need to listen to his work on the Rolling Stones' "Bite My Head Off," from their new album ("Hackney Diamonds"), which just came out today. It's quite a banger, in no small part due to Paul's base line on that track.

Also actor John Pankow who is the brother of trombonist James Pankow from the group Chicago plays his partner.

I really like your dogs. There`s not a chance in hell Guns & Roses` version is better than McCartney`s. This is one of the best tunes I have ever seen done live anywhere. On the 1977 "Wings Over America " tour McCartney pulled out all the stops with explosions, lasers & a full horn section. It sounded incredible live. This tune is minimum A plus all the way. Great show guys.
