When I was learning to play in the 1970's there was not really much choice in bags and blowpipes and you just had to fit the instrument. +1 for the McCallum Bannatyne extended bag which I bought last year and love, I also use the adjustable blowpipe which is also great. I think two suggestions I would make to help pipers know if the bag and blowpipe is optimal for them, if they find that they are gripping the chanter too hard with their top hand the bag might not optimal. Also if you let the blowpipe out off your mouth and it kind of pops away from your mouth and out of reach then the blowpipe angle and or length might be wrong.

If you need the chanter higher you could always get an extra blowpipe stock and use it for the chanter.

I wouldn't recommend that as it will affect the sound and stability of the chanter sound. The chanter and drone stocks are all a specific length for the reed. Plus it is unnecessarily expensive. It is much easier to just insert the stock deeper into the bag.
