Drummer appears to be feeling it rather than just reading music, which is awesome

for saying this is a high school band, its fantastic!! Loved the piano solo and the sax soli was pretty tight too, well done guys you're clearly talented and very hard working to get to this level! Still room for improvements, yes the trumpets do sometimes split or miss but thats easily sorted. The saxes need a better balance within in their section and also in the band; they sometimes get a little lost against the brass. But overall a solid performance, Well done!

@Djangolulu Grade 5 is the highest difficulty in most states. Some states use the word group, and others have grade 1 as the hardest, it just depends.

Glad to see all the negative feedback here... I for one thought this is damn good level for a hgh school big band, omit the first trumpet (kidding, kidding!!!). I was actually hoping to hear the way the last chord was phrased, but that seems to be one of theonly things that the Cherokee BB decided to change... could anyone with a worthy set of ears or just the score enlighten me with which instrument is playing the lead (G, a 7th above A=440) in that final G-9 add11?

Considering this is a high-school band doing a grade 5 piece, I think this is definitely not bad. I will say that the drummer, though definitely not weak, is not anything special either. As far as tone quality in the shout chorus, it's probably very difficult to preserve it on those high trumpet hits. Clearly none of these saxes are particularly amazing, and as such, I give them lots of credit for playing the soli as well as they did. My personal favorite bit was the vibe solo.

Yeah. First trumpet player was kinda meh. He was OKAY, but the high E's were off and he didn't get the F#. I'll cut him some slack on that one though, because the F# is optional. (However I can play it just fine...)

By Grade 5 piece, I hope you are not insinuating that 5th graders could play this.

Haha, nooo, definitely not. Grade 5 pieces are considered "advanced high-school; typical college ensemble" level pieces. Grade 6 is "advanced college and professional," and I think that's as high as it goes.
