I own 6 guitars and while my G&L USA S-500 is not the most expensive it's the first thing I would grab if the house was on fire. Greatest guitar I have ever owned or played.

This guy can play !!! I own a custom s500 USA . Luv it !! I don’t even look at fender guitars anymore because of G&L . Great demo !!!

Thank you for a great overview of the sound possiblities. I own a S-500 and was inspired to try out some new settings.

Here's the main issue I see. People are so used to the Fender sound they think it's superior but that's simply not true. The G&L beat out Fender in terms of sound any day of the week. They are simply better guitars period. That lead tone starting at 3:06 is just incredible!

I've been wanting one for a very long time. Found a red and white Tribute for $200 in perfect condition. Love this guitar. Best one I have ever owned. Great demo.

The trem arm is very long I noticed. On a Strat it would stop at about the middle pickup but on this it goes all the way to the neck. If I'm honest I think I'd either block the trem off or take a hacksaw to that arm and shorten it a bit.

Hello. Great demo. I'm about to purchase a used 1995 S500, however it doesn't have the mini toggle switch. The headstock does say made in Fullerton. Did they ever produce these guitars with a flat white pickguard and no mini toggle switch? Thanks in advance!
@DimitrisDr3am5 жыл бұрын
Im sure you bought it (or didnt) long ago, but I know the tribute series had ones with a pot that pulls out instead of the switch. I have one from 2011 that is this way. Not sure if the US models mirrored the tributes through the years, or what was being done in 95 though.

So...you can't independently set tone between neck/bridge? There is always such a problem getting balance.

I’ve got a Fender Strat I’m tempted to install those pickups, any reason I shouldn’t? Currently sounds little thin compared to my Asat Classic

that switch is evil incarnate...it absolves the need to buy more guitars
@gagslovedotcom5 жыл бұрын
stsgabe Exactly! I didn’t really use the switch at first and almost bought a tele until I realized that’s what the switch is for. It gets a pretty close approximation of that tele style tone

I bought a 3rd hand G&L S-500 in 1983 so it was definitely very early era. I have now had it almost 37 years and this is the first time I have seen or heard about that extra little switch. I wonder why mine doesn't have it??? Anyway, mine is THE MOST fantastic Elec Guitar ever. It plays and sounds like a dream and, as he said, can sound so many different ways - even without that cool little switch. I own a very nice Les Paul, and a beautiful and wonderful Strat - but nothing is like my G&L. Absolutely The Best! I have used it in many recording sessions over the years in many States and Studios.

Has anyone ever used MFDs with a Humbucker in the bridge, I've never seen that combo.
@MrTobiKay7 жыл бұрын
I have a Legacy HB with a humbucker in the bridge and a S-500 with MFD pickups. Swapped the MFDs for a set of CHris Klein's jazzy cats and put two of the three MFD pickups in the Legacy's neck and mid position. They work pretty good together with the HB in the bridge ;)

Sam Roney I believe it is a Nace Pro 18 Combo. We recorded most of the guitar you hear in this video via the direct out from the amp.

nice sounding guitar but they are still tone knobs
@PaulSter Жыл бұрын
Of course they are 'tone' knobs - in the literal sense of the word. However, in the guitar world, we are conditioned to have, and use, our tone knobs as treble roll-off only. With the PTB system, the added flexibility of cutting treble and/or bass gives these a whole new level of control. It's an excellent update and the effect of them is much more pronounced than the old system.
