To add to this very clear and informative video - I've personally found that setting Flex to 100 was not enough of a 'bypass' when I don't want to hear it. Putting Retune Speed to its highest value of 400 in conjunction with Flex at 100 was the result that got me the best dry sound.

Yet another great video Eric! Very nicely done! Do you use a dedicated setup (Mac+UAD Apollo) just for auto tune in live settings? I am wondering if the playback tracks are coming from the same Apollo as Autotune like x4p or is the playback separate with a different audio interface connected to a different laptop? If so how do you sync the two laptops to run separate sessions in sync? Thank you! Very grateful :)

You absolutely can run your playback off the Apollo interface, but you would need at least a Twin or higher, giving you 4+ outputs. You also would have no way of running redundancy (if you chose to do so).

@@eldowns For that if one was using Playaudio stuff then I am guessing that becomes the main Audio Interface with two laptops and it will somehow sends MIDI to Apollo through a third computer? Damn! Could you shed some light on it please? Many thanks Eric :)

@@sarinsahil Good question. There are a few methods you can use here, but the simplest is for the B computer to be connected to the Apollo and take care of the MIDI data. That way, if the A computer fails so bad that Ableton itself crashes (unlikely), it won’t drop the Apollo responsibilities as well.
