It's a showdown on the upper Mississippi River between a jig and minnow and BFishn' Tackle soft plastics! I go the artificial route to tempt winter walleyes and sauger, while my lifelong friend and Another Fishing Show co-host, Pete Wagner, puts his faith in live bait.

I try to avoid fishing in that deep of water because it kills a lot of released fish. Barotrauma.

So true and I see so many fishermen especially in the late fall that catch walleye 30’-50’ and release them thinking they are doing good and all those fish die. If you are going to catch fish deep then please catch and keep!!!

A fun day indeed! Ideally, need air temps around 30 with no wind. A nice option to have to scratch that open water itch in the winter.

White actually reflects the colors around it somewhat I think.we smoke alot of species using white plastic.

I would say the big ones definitely bite better at night.
