Live from outside the American Hospital in Beirut. Lebanese state media and security officials say dozens of people have been injured in Beirut’s suburbs after their handheld pagers exploded.
Warnings on pagers issued: Lebanon’s health ministry has urged citizens who possess pagers to discard them and warned hospitals to be on high alert.
The Israeli military, which has engaged in tit-for-tat strikes with Hezbollah for months, said it would not be commenting on the incidents.

It is a bad lesson in wireless telecommunication, if they can compromise units like pagers, then easily your mobile device becomes a weapon against you, even your modem or any receiver. Keeping your mobile in your back or shirt pocket, looking at a message, surfing, or leaving your device next to other things people creates a danger. I believe it's as serious as stopping freedom of speech. For the world's public safety, this is something dangerous precedent. About 3 weeks back I found a tablet in a cart at the airport and tried to return it to the person who had forgotten it, based on today's stories maybe it was not wise of me to touch it, or even touch any discarded unit, like if you find a bag.
