I’m sorry to everyone whose question I didn’t get to. To the viewer whose AC15C1X lost trem and is getting hot I especially apologize. It’s probably something simple but get it checked out. The trem circuit is solid state and unlikely to fail but it works by changing the bias and it sounds like the bias and/or an output tube may be the issue. There’s not much that can fail in any major way there but the symptoms can sound scary.

Our "beloved" internet is full of garbage and social media is the worst offender by far. KZbin is one of the oldest so... yea... a lot of crap flying around here. That said... this channel is one of the very few that gives me hope in humanity. This is a real gem. I really, really appreciate you sharing your knowledge with us. And not just the knowledge but also the unpretentious presentation style which is super rare nowadays. When I started watching my first video on this channel I could not hit subscribe button fast enough; I think it was within minutes 😁. What I am trying to say is... thank you.

This is the guitar amp version of “Car Talk”. I can’t stop watching even though I don’t own a guitar amp.

I agree with most all that you say, I wanted to say that as a former amp builder (not any longer) I studied the chassis of various amps to “go to school on them, and found the finest wiring, layout and execution could be found In Dr. Z amps; super clean layout, short leads all dressed i mpeccably, zero grounding loops nor noise, beautiful chassis, and wonderfully sound in a n 18 watt amp. Comment?

Thank you very much for taking the time to answer my laborious questions. My 65 DRRI is from 1994 but new to me. I am bringing it back to stock, including the bright-cap. For the record, my favorite cheesesteak is from Dalessandro’s in Roxborough (NW Philly).

Had the DSL20 and good lord, it was a pain. Had to be all the way up to sound OK, at best. Noisy, brash, and not very loud at all. Digital reverb was ok, but that was the only redeemer, if you can call it that.

I sure wish I could end the debate in my mind due to tech disagreement whether the 1watt stock Screen Resistor in my 69 Super that fried should be replaced with a 3watt or if the lower value is better to work as a fuse and protect the Tubes and OT. WIDE variance of opinion about this, no objective conclusions yet.

"Carvin amps aren't built to last." My Carvin amp was built in 1960. Still works fine. Vintage Vibe Amps makes a great hand wired blackface copy with added mid control pot on the tremolo channel. And a bit of boost in the non vibrato channel. Frenzel Amps too make decent Fender copies. My resolution? Watch more amp repair videos.

I've heard from many techs that she with you on Mesa BUT my Mark V is the only amp I've ever owned that does what it does all by itself.

wood mentioned. I recently got involved in that since there are a bunch of losers (or to be kind, noobs or quite mislead people) who will go extreme lenghts to say that it's a myth. They will start fights on the internet and shit on very credible people. If you are not a loser and seem to notice a difference they will shit on you immensely. I stumbled on Boudreau Guitar's Tonewood Debate Guitar Build when it was an ongoing series, like 10 years ago (when I was like 18). It ended with great bulletproof tests in pt22-pt24. Pt24 is minute of back to back tests where you hear difference. Still that nearly doesn't change minds of those who are convinced otherwise. They will just include more caveats and, while not admitting defeat, just discretely stop saying that stupid thing that is that pickups must ignore 100% of the wood because wood isn't magnetic or something similar. If that isn't the case they will absolutely say that we are ridiculous to care either way, even if that never was a part of the debate. It's a very frustrating situation where they are greatly outnumbering us on the internet. Yeah - "they". I really see it like that. They also have their "they" which seem to be tone snobs who spread lies and convince people to overspend. They always refer to problematic liers from this end, and I don't doubt that those stupid tone snobb people are problematic and exist maybe more like 15 years ago, but I never really see those stupid tone snob "they"s. So the balance must have shifted way to the other end, where these new pseudo super sober scientifically correct losers are the problematic ones who spread lies. I kid you not, I recently had to fight off people who told me that my ~750usd/euro second hand Japanese Made Fender Jazz Bass was bad value and that I should have gotten a Sire instead, since they sound exactly the same and referred to their favourite YT channel and a video where you hear the difference between a Sire and a completely different Fender than mine, and the guy of the channel says that he will want to change pickups. Annoying and problematic lies those people spread while bullying more credible people. If I blindly trusted those people, I would be mislead and less happy.

I wanted to catch the live stream but i was busy. Glad it's posted. I did want to ask about how the '65 Princeton Reverb reissue (with a 12" Jensen alnico) compares to a vox ac15 c1x in terms of build quality. Do you see more problems with one or the other? I had been wanting to get the ac15 but i had a chance to try the Princeton and i really liked how it sounded. But with the vox i have more control over the sound with the master volume and tone cut. The Fender seemed a little better in terms of quality. Certainly costs more.

Hi, Happy New Year. You said "Bad Cats and Matchless are not the best-sounding amps for the money..." which are the best-sounding amps for that money in your opinion? I'm looking into a Matchless Laurel Canyon, what would you consider instead? Many thanks for sharing your amazing knowledge!
