38:01 Hi Lyle! Thank you for fielding my question reg. Filmosound amps. I agree that it’s kitschy and from a tech PoV it’s less than ideal. I will say that the converted stock circuit sounds different than a 5E3 - at least mine does. Better or worse? Who’s to say? The thing that I think is really nice about these is that you start out with some great parts (Output transformer f.i.) and then it’s all custom from there. So you need a tech that’s willing to be along for that journey and enjoys that. What happens if we add a bright switch? Can we add a negative feedback? Can we add a line out for touring purposes? That kind of stuff. I’d never do to an old 5e3. So it becomes a platform for a very personalized amp where nobody feels guilty for alternating it - because it was never supposed to be a guitar amp. Hope that makes sense. Thank you doing these and sharing your knowlegde!

Very sorry to hear you lost your sister to covid. One valuable lesson I learned from you in the inner workings of my 65 deluxe RI amp. I have to take it to a tech but I was able to tell him exactly what I need done and not just "I'm searching for this unicorn type of sound.' Filter caps are being changed, and a ticking sound has to be traced. The vibrato is not working, so he's going to run down that problem too. Bias needs to be checked.

The copper strap wrapped around transformer acts much like a shorted turn but only to external fields *outside the magnetic path, thereby reducing those fields. I have never actually measured the radiated field, copper strap vs none, same traffo so an educated guess is they work to some degree. That being said there are many really quiet amps that are 'strapless'.

I had asked the question late in the stream about the Princeton Reverb FSR with Cannabis Rex 12” - more than the aesthetics of the tweed I was more asking about the build quality of this particular line of PRs. I have a Texas Heat speaker that I am thinking of swapping out the C-Rex for.

WRT Marshall's classic ''çold bias'' (unbypassed 10k Cathode R) 12AX7 stage -> people rarely (if ever) point out the mechanism happening that is degeneration, ie; local feedback which produces different harmonic spectrum. The large amount of degeneration is trying to linearise the transfer curve of tube in addition to all other things going on.

For the guy interested in ampeg clones, due to the odd tubes and extreme weight, real vintage ampegs are quite affordable. I had a Gemini I like Sage's. Sounded good but not good enough to court crushed vertebrae.

Exactly. I have a Gemini I I got to compliment my trinity trip top B15 clone. Re did the grounding scheme and used lyles vids to help reference the work. Picked it up for $550. Great amp to play with but yea it’s big heavy and unique.

@@maxvockner I had a later blue line Gemini with a 12" speaker that I liked better actually. The reverb and trem were awesome but it also weighed a ton

Missed the show working. Just bought a Revstar standard with P90s. Do you think you could possibly voice the focus mode? It's a little dark but very nice. Would like it a little less congested.

Hey Scott. Which version did you get? The lowest range has a different circuit than the middle and MIJ ones.

@psionicaudio It's the middle grade or the standard. I was going to see if I could leave it with you when I drop off my Bassman and pick it up with amp. That way, you can tinker and possibly make a small adjustment. It's a great guitar. My first guitar with P90s.
