Thanks for offering some clarity on the topic of preamp gain. Lots of conflicting information out there…

JJ Tubes are the only ones that I've had that have crapped out. The question on vox types? There are many out there. Bad Cat, Matchless, to name a very few.

I really appreciate your feedback on my Vibrolux video. I checked to see if i had any control over recording settings and it doesn't look like there is anything i can do to adjust the audio on my phone. Brad mentioned a Bluetooth connection might affect the sound and although I'm never connected to anything when i record, my Bluetooth was enabled so i turned it off before a few things that i recorded a little earlier tonight. I'm not sure if it made any difference. This is something that I'll try to find a way to improve using what i have to work with. So far the best results are when i go outside even with the warble.

The only legitimate people manufacturing guitar amplifiers in the vein of Hiwatt, is the Hitone company over in Indianapolis. They are actually partially in business with the Dave Reeves family.

LOVE YOUR EXPERIENCE, YOUR TOP NOTCH QUALITY, AND YOUR HONESTY! TUBE AMPS RULE...RESPECT FOR ALL YOUR EXPERTISE LYLE! I SWAPPED AN OUTPUT TRANSFORMER FROM A 6L6 DYNACO RADIO MY DAD BUILT A LONG TIME AGO....A PEERLESS, AND PUT IT IN A '66 AB 165 BASSMAN. THE PEERLESS SOUNDS GREAT, AND I AM NOT USING THE ULTRALINEAR TAPS FOR THE SCREENS. IS THAT THE BEST WAY TO USE THIS OUTPUT TRANSFORMER?

Hey Lyle, would you mind giving me a reverb tank recommendation for a deluxe reverb? I have a 2002 reissue that I think has a Belton in it, and I like the sound of it. Nice and bright and present. But I also have a kit built deluxe where the reverb is really dark sounding and seems very in the background. That tank is a MOD P-RMOD-4AB2C1B I appreciate any help and perspective you can give me. 👍

Wuddup Lyle (that's urban vernacular for, "Hi. How ya doin?). Well, thanks to you and Uncle Doug, I ran out and bought a 1940s/early 50s Newcomb B-100 radio to tinker with and attempt to turn into a guitar amp. I missed the chat but am trying to get caught up. Is WD-40 contact cleaner an equivalent substitute for Deoxit? At 1/3 the price, I think I know the answer, but wanted to get your expert opinion.

No, never use WD40 for cleaning electrical contacts or anywhere voltage is present. It leaves a sticky film that traps particles that turn into gummy conductive yuck. I use WD40 to treat rust and to clean Fender control panels. Not in pots, not in sockets, not in jacks.

@@PsionicAudio Thanks! No I wouldn't use the original WD-40 on anything so delicate. But they make a contact cleaner and sell it cheap at Home Depot. But I will search for the Deoxit, now that I'm an official electronics hack with a set of tools and a vintage radio to work on. Thanks again!
