If anyone is wondering how Nelson found the quiet Qh7 move, instead of going with Qc6+, he clearly states 3 things he noticed that prompted that find: 1: Rook on open file 2: Opponent's king exposed 3: We have a very aggressive position Conclusion: Maybe there's something better than a fork with Qc6+ If you want to improve in your own games, maybe it's a start to notice these aspects in your own games. Ask yourself: 1) do I have any advantages in my position (rook on open file, pieces in enemy's territory, king safety etc.)? 2) does my opponent have any weak points that can be exploited (lack of king safety, pieces undeveloped, time wasted on moves etc.)? The above are more intermediate questions to ask yourself than the simple and basic (but very important) questions of: 1. Does my opponent have a threat? a. how do I respond to it? b. do I NEED to respond to it? 2. Can I make a threat on my opponent? a. how might my opponent parry that threat? b. Is there a convenient response that makes my move bad?

I don't think setting up a Queen-Rook battery lined up on the king qualifies as a quiet move. Although it does go to show that checks aren't always the best attacking move.

Great to see you back so soon, wish I could have saw it live - I broke my ankle once and a really good exercise I could do while sitting down was extend my leg out and write the alphabet with my big toe. Upper case, lower case, and then same in cursive. I recovered really fast according to my physical therapist. The therapist didn't know about it, but said she might start recommending it. Found it on youTube. Lol. Get well soon! I definitely wouldn't give you Chess tips, so hope this helps if you care to try it.

I'm in late but saw you taking a break....my suggestion for exercise is to lay on your back on your bed, couch, or floor, and raise your legs and pretend your peddling a bicycle. Just to get some activity on your leg with the clot. Of course only as much as pain will allow.

I'm wondering why Nelson did'nt play Nxg5 at 55:40. Then after xg5 play Qh5, threatning checkmate at h8. Kign can't move, so Qh7 only move, and then do Qxg5 check. King goes to f7, not sure about the followup, but still seems like a good position to me. Is there something that am I missing why this wouldn't work?

Your first video I ever saw was the boiling frog one, and I was so excited when you said you were gonna play it. Then you played E1. 😭 Why not Queen to E2 to keep the rook lift open? And why didn't you put your knight onto D4 like you said you were going to when the pawn came down?

This is called "en passant". You are allowed to sort of intercept an opponent pawn with your own pawn, if it moves 2 squares, and you would have been able to take it, if it had only moved 1 square. Only applies to the turn right after the opponent pawn move.
