The Riley went for £9,200 .I remember i bought a 12 year old Wolseley 1,500 cc ( very similar car .Same shape ) for £100 back in around 1975 .It was in great condition .Drove it to Wales and Lands end on trips .It was my first car so holds a special memory .

Any chance you could put down the mileage on the heading tech spec before each cars roles out??
@notroll12792 жыл бұрын
Good idea - but if you follow the link in the description you can open the catalogue which gives lots of additional information on each car (including maintenance and often number of previous owners...).
@notroll12792 жыл бұрын
I'm surprised how many cars got sold way outside their "Estimate" brackets.
@jimronanauctioneer2 жыл бұрын
So am i !! The estimate is just that, an estimate based on a mixture of historical prices, current market trends, vendors expectations and of course condition ! But on the day, market forces take over and you begin to realise that we’re actually selling nostalgia and people are driven to buy and maybe relive those bygone days and long lost memories? Getting in a car you owned in your youth is quite exciting!

@@jimronanauctioneer I know... just browsed the catalogue of that auction and saw a well maintained Ford Capri sold for > 40 k £ - lots more than a 1940s Daimler fetched - but then that's a car no possible purchaser has any childhood memory of...

A bid is bid, and surely its his job to get the best price for any car if it be another £100
@jimronanauctioneer2 жыл бұрын
As usual on KZbin there’s always someone who thinks they’re entitled to pass comment on the way we work when in fact you really don’t understand what’s going on and why we do what we do.
@paulharrison86122 жыл бұрын
@@jimronanauctioneer I'm very sorry if my comment has offended you. It's was only meant as a constructive criticism and I wondered why you don't reduce the bid increments towards the end of each lot like most auctioneers do to say £50 increments where a bidder may be tempted to go that small amount over his budget, thus increasing the vendors achieved price of their entry lot and the auction companies commission of course
@jimronanauctioneer2 жыл бұрын
@@paulharrison8612 has to be a balance Paul, a lot of ‘ trade ‘bidders will try and bid in tenners if you let them ! And I always think it’s only fair to the previous bidder to expect the next man to bid the same ! On Sunday someone actually tried to bid in £1. Increments!!! Plus I’m getting grumpy in my old age !
@paulharrison86122 жыл бұрын
@@jimronanauctioneer yes point taken Jim cheeky bids of £10, £1 is utter ridiculous, you'd be there all day and manage about 30 lots!! I was motor trade for 20 odd years and I wouldn't of had the cheek to ask for a tenner🙄 if I had he would have pointed me in the direction of the burger van !!!!!

for internet customers we need to see more film of car details. Interior and the boot etc. it will boost internet offers!
@jimronanauctioneer2 жыл бұрын
Our research and feedback shows that internet buyers who have registered and paid a deposit will always check the online pictures, videos etc and ask for any more information prior to the sale. It’s extremely rare for a customer to go online and bid without doing that and we certainly wouldn’t recommend it !

Someone wants their head looking at giving £18K for that Zody, nice car but this shit is getting as bad as Barret Jackson, muppets with "spare" money have ruined this hobby IMO. Thank fk I bought all mine in the 80/90s at sensible money and still own it all.

@Bercilak de hautdesert I own MOPAR for 38 years here in UK, I built 727s and 904 trans for these and the prices amaze me today, my Roadrunner was £1500 in '84, and I still own it today, a '69 Dart and a '68 Conv Fury. I have TFs stacked up from the 80s/90s and I think I will start doing them again LOL
