guess the most important thing about the back 180 besides the blind landing is actually the switch riding. do this A LOT before even attempting the 180. because if you don't, you will be scared by the blind switch riding which will make you want to not hold it as long. I personally learned switch riding by forcing myself to ride switch an entire day until it felt kind of awkward to come back to riding regular again. then apply switch riding to like 30-50% of your rides so it feels absolutely effortless. THEN those 180s are not a problem at all.

That’s a solid tip 👏

Doing this now. Kept trying 180s and b****ing out half way around because I can’t ride switch. I spent last weekend riding all of the green slopes switch and just within an hour of practice I was so much more comfortable. Couple more days and I’ll try for that 180 again

I just got a true twin, so excited to get out there tomorrow! On a set-back directional twin, it’s hard to tell how much switch discomfort is due to the setup vs. skill issue

what really wonders me is, that the fail in 3:51 - 3:52 was uncommented. Imho the rider had immediately before takeoff a lean backward open shoulder position totally opposite to spin direction. This made it harder to bring the spin in axis around and corked him. So the shoulder should be turned slightly into spin direction on take off and spine vertical balanced. Many have also take off hunching over the board position and ending up as well in a cork. whenever spine axis is bending down or backwards you end up in a cork like position in the air, screwing up your back side 180 or 360 completely.. that was my findings during practicing sessions and doing aftermath analysis of 3:51 3:52 Tell me pls. if I am right or wrong. Also I noticed that not all kickers allow wide arced entry paths, as narrow kickers allow basically more or less only an almost straight approach just and edge change from heel to toe... so learning super wide arc entry paths eliminates unfortunately the ability to jump 180 on narrow kickers, while narrow kicker jumpers can easily do same trick on wide kicker (this wide arc and width entry path is just a disadvatage, not a fault of course.. also freeride kickers hardly allow any of these overdefined setup turns)

I’m sorry you put so much effort in a comment that hasn’t been answered. Hopefully last season had you learn on your own. I would be glad to comment, however I’m too uninformed to reply.

Great catch. I know this is old, but that is why he didn’t get the full 180 and why I could never get the full bs 180 to come around. Not sure why Niels said his entry was perfect, it wasn’t. Too many instructors just tell to ti turn your head, but fail to pick up on the shoulder position upon approaching. Thank you! P.s. also find that such a wide entry path for such a small jump , shaves too much speed.

I have this problem where I land but on a flat base and then slide out to my heels it seems practically impossible to land my on my toes no matter how hard I try and I can’t seem to figure out. I spot the blind landing all the time but no matter what I land flat or to my heels.
