The leak from the hose on the air box cover to Throttle body was the main cause for the jeep to run Lean, but removing the coil-pack and spark plugs to clean then up a bit, definitely helped for the overall performance of the engine in the long run!
The misfires for the engine are finally gone, and her car runs better than ever! 🧰🙏🏼

@@randalfernandez2913 I don't know where they get these ridiculous ideas from. If we don't prove our diags, we don't get paid, even if we guess right. Especially if its a really generic code like on O2 sensor. I call it the Scotty Kilmer effect. Drive around with your scanner connected, pretend you know what you're looking at and flap your arms around to distract your viewers from realizing you have no skills. Now everyone thinks you use a scan tool to diag and repair a car. In reality, your actual diag starts after you put the scanner down. If a DVOM isn't your most used tool, you're probably a lube tech,

Very good job on the diagnosis. I just diagnosed my daughters car with a vaccum leak the same way. My live data was showing long term fuel trims almost maxed out close to 30%. I smoked the intake with my homemade PVC smoke machine and found the EVAP purge solenoid was leaking. Replaced it and fuel trims went back to normal. I made a second PVC smoke machine to gift to my brother and he was able to diagnose a vaccum leak on his Land Rover Disco 2. Found leaks on several injector oring seals that had dried out. It was driving him crazy trying to figure it out. Really good tool to have. Again nice job. Cheers

Forreal though. Whoever her dude is is an extremely lucky mf. I have done multiple engine swaps by myself without a lift in my driveway, and all of my previous ex’s just kept asking me when I’m going to be done after pulling the engine/transmission combo and then reversing the steps by myself. How about help me instead of asking me when I’m going to be done. 💀 You also have to be a pretty decent sized Human to do all of that by yourself as well. 6’8 and 184 pounds of lean muscle should do it.

Hermanita, put a pad down for your knees to help on the vehicle. Wear knee pads, or, buy the tire step tool, PT makes a good one for cheaper and it holds my FA up at 210lbs, so I'm sure you are good. Nice on checking the basics and finishing the Jeep up. It's a Chrysler so don't be surprised when you have job security. Been doing technician service for years now, as well as welding fabrication and some machining areas. Welcome to the trades.

I'm glad it worked out for you. Usually those misfires are due to bent intake valve on those motors. It takes about 7 days for it to happen again. Also, I'm from the school of thought that if you're already in there minus well replace cheap tuneup parts. Do the job once imo. That way you 100 rule out the usual suspects. Great vid!

If you have a bent valve, it will show up in compression test, or a relative compression test. I would do that first.

@@hotmodz_ Just so you know, you can't clear emissions DTC's. What really happens when you clear emissions codes with a scanner, the check engine light goes and all of your pending codes get relisted as permanent.codes. While the codes are permanent, the pcm monitors the system to determine if you really fixed the problem, or you just cleared. They do it this way because people would clear the codes right before they pulled in for an inspection. Your scan tool probably can't read permanent dtc's.

I have learned hands on and attended some internships at shops! Also i do study a lot at home to keep refreshing my mind from what i have learned in the past over time! I recommend buying the manual book for your car! Because the manual helps so much!!! Also theres mechanic websites online (for particularly your vehicle) and you can ask them questions, they can also help guide you through how to fix stuff on your car as well.

@@Zekejones1390 I understand exactly what you mean when you say you're not learning enough. If you really want to learn, tech schools like UTI will not prepare you. If you don't go to trade school, you start out as a lube tech. If you do go to trade school, you start out as a lube tech. I can show you how to get the best education for free. If want to work on modern cars, you'll need factory training. Cars are changing too fast to go independent. Get an entry level job, like a lube tech, at a dealership. On day one, you'll have access to hundreds of online courses directly from the manufacturer. The dealership almost always pays you for every online class you complete. If you are doing a good job, after a few months, you get sent to factory training. All of your expenses are paid for (rental car, hotel, meals, ... everything.). You also get paid your regular hourly rate while you are sitting in class. This is how you want to do it. Factory training is the best, and if you are going to be a tech, you might as well be making money. If you want to see what modern techs do, have a look at these 2 youtube channels. Scanner Danner and Diagnose Dan. These are two of the best techs you'll ever meet. Danner teaches at a real college, and he video tapes his actual classes, When you watch them, its just like being in the class.

FYI, that is not where you connect to when checking for an engine vacuum leak. The smoke from the air inlet duct is normal; the leak at that clamp is abnormal but irrelevant to the fuel trim concern because that powertrain design is not equipped with a mass air flow sensor. The calculation of both short-term and long-term when viewing live data is the total fuel trim for the individual banks. Your potential is there, but it still has some way to go. The cleaning of the spark plugs may have bandaged the concern. Overall, I will give you a "B-"

Even though the intake coupler is damaged and a source of smoke leaking when performing a smoke test, this is not considered a vacuum leak. This engine is a MAP based system not a MAF based system. If you don't see a sensor on the intake duct/hose, a MAP sensor is used to calculate air density. This sensor is attached to the intake manifold. It's still a good idea that the coupler is replaced because it's letting unfiltered air into the engine. The grease I saw on the COPs looks red in color. This makes me think it's regular wheel bearing grease. That type should not be used. On top of that the grease is on the outside of the boot. The correct lube should be dielectric grease, which is typically clear and it should be applied between the boot and the ceramic portion of the spark plug. The number six plug's washer looks like it wasn't crushed. Meaning it wasn't torqued down correctly in the first place. You might have inadvertently fixed the misfire by removing, cleaning, and retightening the spark plugs. Good job there. No need to pull the fuel injectors. The B2 LTFT still doesn't look right. It should be +-10% range. Either there's additional work to be done, or the scanner is reading wrong. I would suggest using a different brand and compare it's reading to yours. Overall I commend your work ethic and perseverance. Please take this as constructive criticism. My intent is not to bash or mansplain. Have a great day.

Hi hot mod, At the end of the video where it’s showing the fuel trims, is that after the repairs? If it is, the fuel trims are still high. More than 10%. The check engine will come back. You have a lean condition and the ECU is having to add more fuel to compensate. Most often it’s a vacuum leak. Try doing another smoke test but this time close off the exhaust tip and the intake inlet to pressurize the engine better. I’ve seen these leak from intake gasket before. But don’t go higher than 2 psi or you will probably start popping hoses out. Best of luck and keep up the great work. Sincerely, new subscriber.

I was wary of those percentages that showed up but i did tell her to give me a call if the check engine light appears but it hasnt yet, if its not a vacuum leak I was thinking its an issue with the fuel injectors since thats something I left out, You think that could be the issue in the future

@@hotmodz_ there’s a few tests you can do to check fuel injectors. Try doing a fuel injector pressure drop test. Use a fuel pressure gauge to measure the pressure. Enable the fuel pump to prime and use a fuel injector tester to pulse the injector and see how much it drops. Measure the rest of them and see if any of them is an outlier. I shouldn’t will hurt the engine as long as it stays in stoichiometric ratio but it’s always nice to know that it’s running correctly.

The only time my Jeep needed plugs or one single coil was when the coolant resevoir tank was dripping onto the coil and connector. Then the valve seat dropped two weeks later. Then the waterpump leaked. Then the torque converter went to hell 3 weeks later. Made it to 198,990 miles.

U should have pressed the gas pedal to let the throttle body open that way smoke can get inside the lower intake checking for other potential vacuum leaks there too the throttle body being close won't give u an actual reading

Decent work, but wrong plugs. Iridium in that...nope. :) Chryslers are tricky, Mopar or no Car and esp with o2 sensors. they like those OEM. The Fuel trim was nice call, but the ECM will see the lean and fire more fuel into the chambers. Only at startup ( open loop) and idle can you tell if you probably have a vacuum leak, and the misfires data will probably tell also, as sometimes there are misfires and the no MIL lamp/light, but you can see them rolling. Either way, still work in the hot sun, and Im sure climbing into the engine at your height makes it more challenging. Dont get me wrong the view is exceptional. :)

I did not get to test the 02 sensor beforehand when i replaced the original O2 sensor from the Jeep, But i did test it after and the voltage was at about .6/.4 fluctuating, so both banks were fine !
