Even though I don't know what all your tools are and what each are used for, I found myself totally into your video. I thought to myself, think of how many different things start with just a tree of some type. My brother was a master craftsman with wood. He could make anything asked of him. He restored many of the old office buildings downtown Fort Worth, Tx. including shelves, furniture, etc. I'm looking at my mantel that he and I together designed. It is enormous, but gorgeous. I just lost him two months ago and I miss him so much, it hurts. Watching you reminded me of him. Brought back some wonderful memories of times I shared with him in his shop. I will continue watching your videos. You have a special gift. God Bless You.

Wood working is so satisfying! Brings me back to working with my dad in his workshop helping him remodel our family home. We installed an entire sunroom, refinished our basement, and built a beautiful wooden liquor bar and pool table. There was nothing he couldn't do and he taught me so much and all of this was just a hobby for him. He owned a home heating oil company as his main career. Sadly he passed away from cancer when I was 18... but I took a lot of his skills and DIY mentality with me in life. I'm now 35 and my wife loves that I can always fix everything in the house.... I've become the guy you call to fix things now though lol.... but I love it. From wood working to electrical work to plumbing..... my dad taught me a lot. Now calling someone to help fix something at my house is the LAST resort. Unless walls are going up or it's something that's physically impossible for one person to do, I'm doing it all solo!

Man that turned out awesome, Johnny! Is the glass just completely floating? I'm thinking with my kids that wouldn't be a good idea. But man is that thing sexy.
@craftedworkshop7 жыл бұрын
+Fix This Build That thanks Brad! Yea, the glass isn't attached in any way but it would take some effort to knock it out. It's fairly snug with the sides of the wood touching the edges of the glass, and all of the curves keep it from sliding around. When we have kids, this table will live in a no-kid-zone for sure!

I am curious to why you chiseled and sanded down the "live edge" of the pieces of wood because I feel that having that stuff is the reason you chose to have a live edge in the first place. I can understand removing pieces that aren't stuck on well. Almost forgot to say though, awesome channel man, commentary is perfect for each project, keep it up!
@craftedworkshop7 жыл бұрын
+Ian Jackson thanks! I really just removed the loose bits and smoothed things out. There wasn't any real bark on the slab to begin with, I'm guessing whatever the bug holes I mentioned caused the tree to die and lose its bark.

Awesome work and very beatiful! Thank you so much about sharing all the information. Do you mind if I ask you how close was the router bit to the glass. Did the router bit touch the glass at all? Did you some how attch the glass at the end or it is just floaded? Thank you so much again!!
@craftedworkshop7 жыл бұрын
+Hamid Reza Mostajabi thanks! The bit has a bearing on it, and the bearing is what is touching the glass. The bit is just slightly narrower than the bearing, so it should no touch the glass, that would be BAD! And no, the glass is just floating. Thanks again!

Great work Johnny! Next time when dealing with end grain on the router table, if you do the end grain first, any tear out will be removed when you do the long grain.
@craftedworkshop7 жыл бұрын
+GuysWoodshop thanks Guy! The tearout was actually on the face of the board, not on the edges. It was a real pain, might have just been the wood grain causing issues.
@GuysShop7 жыл бұрын

@caramonmajere4477 жыл бұрын
Cuts rose scents I think that the term, Master Craftsman, gets thrown around a lot nowadays. Just imagine if the uploader had to plane, cut, router, etc the wood by hand.... Do you still think that the finished product would look as good?
@craftedworkshop7 жыл бұрын
+Cuts rose scents you can really build this with much less expensive tools.
@craftedworkshop7 жыл бұрын
+Caramon Majere that's a completely different style of woodworking, though. That's like saying a NASCAR driver isn't a master race car driver because he's not good in an F1 car.
@cutsrosescents49507 жыл бұрын
Crafted Workshop Im not knocking you or your work and I think its a great design and project that someone can do with tools they already own. Yes it can be done strictly with hand tools.You could find a stained glass worker that could do the glass cuts by hand also.Time frame and cost not added. You have seen Japanese wood workers. You should do a hand tool project video. You know as well as me that the a simplistic hand tool needs to be used properly and to cared for etc.And those skills learned like attention to detail gets carried throughout all of your work.I apprenticed under some really skilled craftsmen that wouldn't tolerate you doing things incorrectly. Yes I could And so could you. Cut the cord,go old school. There are makers of high grade hand tools that may sponsor a video.Give it a go. I think your videos are great.Take care.
