Fed Chair Powell presents the Semiannual Monetary Policy Report to the House Financial Services Committee.
Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell on Wednesday affirmed that more interest rate increases are likely ahead as inflation is “well above” where it should be.
“Inflation pressures continue to run high, and the process of getting inflation back down to 2% has a long way to go,” he said.
Powell said the labor market is still tight though there are signs that conditions are loosening.

What happened to SVB is really scary, and goes to show that no corporation, however big, is immune to collapse. I have always had a deep-seated mistrust for corporations. I have plans to pull out most of my money, but don't know what to do with $350k sitting idly. I'd like to go into the stock market, maybe. Any ideas?
@Erinmills98

All big corps are just a cohort of centralised system working together, and any damage to one can have a dangerous ripple effect on every other one. I learned a long time ago to not trust corporations. Most of my money is in the stock market and my businesses. I keep only what I need to spend in my checking account.

@@Erinmills98 Ironically, these are the conditions in which life-changing money is made by those who remain calm, patient, and take controlled risks. Volatility goes both ways. The banks are in a big crisis. The market looks very shaky. The bigger the red candles, the bigger the green ones. I have made over $280k in the last 4 months by investing through my FA.

We are already in the big crash, Inflation is a catastrophe. This CPI report is a colossal failure. To bring the housing market to a halt, the FED will have to pull all the stops. The unfortunate issue is that other markets are being decimated. If you want to stay green, you have to rely on a lot of diversification. Currently up 14% and being careful. Still a better deal than leaving it in a savings or checking account yielding 0-1 percent interest.

People believe their currency has the worth it does because they have no other option. Even in a hyper-inflationary environment, individuals must continue to use their hyperinflationary currency since they likely have minimal access to other currencies or gold/silver coins.

Inflation is gradually going to become part of us and due to that fact any money you keep in cash or in a low-interest account declines in value each year. Investing is the only way to make your money grow and unless you have an exceptionally high income, investing is the only way most people will ever have enough money to retire.

n addition to combating inflation, central bank policies should also be concerned about market speculation and whether there are asset bubbles. You can’t throw all these crises to the banks every time an asset bubble occurs. In the end, the bank cannot bear the risk and goes bankrupt, and then the bank puts The risk was thrown to the country. In the end, the FED had no choice but to lower interest rates and continue QE to inject funds into banks to avoid liquidity risks. The FED has used this QE strategy for a long time to avoid market crises, and finally had to throw the risk of inflation and asset bubbles to the country and the people. It is a very inhumane thing to let many people who do not participate in speculative activities suffer,

Well, small grocery stores disappeared from our villages in the 1960s to the 1980s. This took 30 years, but it was already clear in the 1960s that these businesses were doomed. The same happens now to our small and medium sized banks all over the world. Their business model is simply outdated in our modern (high-speed) digital age. Our world will change dramatically during the coming years, as totally new technologies and processes are emerging.
