@@K.B.Williams Downtown St Louis on 14th by Clark and Market is f***ing scary. Lots of homeless people and zombies strung out on drugs. Went downtown once and NEVER again. Two guys approached my car from behind, one on each side of the car. I took off and ran a red light. No idea if they were going to rob me or carjack me. The west side of Chicago is much safer than downtown St Louis.

Stuff happens in Chicago in the good parts and bad parts. However, the real action happens on the East/West streets. Those streets include Madison St., Jackson Blvd., Chicago Ave., Augusta Blvd., Division St., and Fullerton Ave. west of Ashland Ave and east of Austin Ave.

You passed by the Cook County Jail, and Courthouse on 26th and California. The largest single site jail facility in the nation. Specifically, the building you passed by was the old Division 1, which is currently being demolished. Al Capone was once in that building.

@Jadwiga Petrykiewicz Many of the people living in these areas don't choose to live this way.....There are many solid families comprised of both single parents and parents who are married and employed, they want better, they want to make what they have better, but sadly, banks discriminate heavily against Blacks, no matter if you have good jobs and are a hardworking single parent or happily married with well behaved children. If this banking bias didn't happen, these "hood" areas would be much nicer and there definitely would be less crime and instability. Maybe there is not banking bias based on race in Poland, but aren't there areas where there is poverty, crime, and single/married parents struggling to make a living and bring their children up properly?

Nick I spent years working in that part of dear old Chi.. Murders, muggings, thefts you name it I've seen it. North Lawndale is most definitely not a nice place to be however for the best hotdogs and fries on planet Earth has go to be Dave's bar none on the corner of Roosevelt and Homan if they're still in business. I use to spend idle moments munching away on a polish, fries and pop to watch the wild life. Great video so a lot of my fellow ghettoites enjoy your show! Keep it comin.'

Welcome to my home state Of Illinois. The south side and the west side of the city can be the roughest parts of Chicago. Chicago not as bad as it is in most big cities but I stay mostly in the suburbs cause it has everything I need. The only thing you find on the west and south sides of Chicago is trouble. Best neighborhoods in Chicago are usually Lincoln Park, Magnificent Mile, Edgewater, Lakeview.

Nick is making a lot of assumptions based on the type of people he thinks lives in these neighborhoods without any actual proof these people actually are on drugs, unemployed, are alcoholics, etc. Just because a neighborhood looks run down does not necessarily means the community is unemployed, on drugs, lazy, uneducated, alcoholics, criminals, so on. There's a lot of good people in many of those neighborhoods who work very hard to improve their community.

Possibly but not necessarily. All you have to do is qualify for a loan to get a car. You don't actually have to be able to afford it. They may have gotten it cheap at a police auction or something. Plus, some people are just dumb with money....they'll have a $40k car, and live in a $30k house....all about image.

I grew up on these very streets. I always knew here you were before you said it. That library you pass is where I got my first library card. By the time you started looking for “a very bad area” you’d left the area where they are plentiful.

Was born at Loretto hospital in the Austin neighborhood in the 70's. Used to be quite nice, very mixed with Polish, Italian, Greek and many others. We all moved to the north and northwest burbs.

If you’re going NW, go down North Ave to Oak Park or Milwaukee Ave into Niles, but stay out of Humboldt and Garfield Park. The socioeconomic down drift in this city has been quick as the wind. They decorated and invested in the downtown and lakeshore before the 2008 recession but forget most everywhere else! Traffic is slower than ever going east to west. Sad - lots of people leaving. This is not the happy city of the 1990s. But the heart of our city is still spread throughout our ethnic pockets. .

The guy on the horse you mentioned is known locally as the dread head cowboy. He took that horse on the Dan Ryan Expressway and the police chased him down the expressway and was arrested and charged with animal cruelty. He said he went on the expressway to protest the violence
