Cedar Walton, 1969 Soul Cycle) 44:12 *My Old Flame* (Arthur Johnston; lyr. Sam Coslow) - ft. Brian Lynch, trumpet 57:44 Brian Lynch Expresses His Pride Over *Emmet’s Impact & Evolution as a Mentor & Steward of the Music* 🎼🙌🏽 // An Enduring Legacy 58:39 Craig Handy Praises the *Alchemy of Emmet’s Place to Refine this Tradition:* Transforming Tough Times Into Sweet Ones 🪄🍋 1:01:32 Joe Farnsworth Echoes Emmet’s Call to *Maintain High Vibrations & A Universal Love within the Music* 📈 // The Significance of Fellowship 🌍 // Joe Recalls Brian Lynch & Craig Handy as treasured NYC connections // 🏆 *Intersecting An Era of Masters:* Art Blakey & Roy Haynes // Highlighting the *Depth & Versatility* of bassist Phil Norris 1:04:11 *Just In Time* (Jule Styne; lyr. Betty Comden, A. Green) - ft. Joe Farnsworth, drums; Craig Handy, tenor sax; & Brian Lynch, trumpet 🔥 1:16:10 *Sugar* (Stanley Turrentine) 💎 1:34:12 *In A Sentimental Mood* (Duke Ellington) - ft. Craig Handy, tenor sax 🍸 1:49:21 *Shoulders* (Cedar Walton) *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ This was a *legendary session* in Emmet’s living room…I can’t express how much I dig & adore the mastery that unfolded last night 🙏🏽 Thank you, family, for your devotion to this art form and to the cats who raise the universal vibrations with every bar they play. 🙌🏽 (I’m sending massive love for your support of all who faithfully bring this music to you ♥️🌎 It’s a beautiful phenomenon how we’re still in this together…) *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ *The wonderful truth about ‘universal vibrations’ is that they never lie.* You can’t ‘fabricate’ this frequency. - It’s either there…or it’s not. 🔥💯 You feel it. You finesse it. - Yet, you never force it. *You simply make yourself available to it….* 🙌🏼🙌🏾 And we see a calibre of cats who not only yield to such vibes, but dare to elevate them… *equal parts musician & magician.* 🪄 *As a true master of our craft, we are in service to something that is greater than ourselves.* 🌎✨ *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ *We show up.* *We hit the shed,* …but *shed* the self-importance, self-doubt, & self-criticism that can ‘scramble’ this frequency. In so doing, there’s nothing left but a *pure vibration and the intention to simply swing.* Alchemy, baby. 🪄💫 *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ *The combined generations of practice brings a refined mindset* that manifests the magic we experience each Monday night. 🎼 🎹 *Emmet Cohen,* piano, and *Phillip Norris,* bass, were joined by the modern greats: - *Brian Lynch,* on trumpet, tenor saxophonist *Craig Handy,* & trio member and drummer, *Joe Farnsworth.* We witnessed all of these cats resonate at a shared frequency… 🔊💥 You don’t get to this stage of intuition & musicianship, by simply being good. *The vibes gotta be high -* And joyfully contributing to this Life-energy is what makes the swing all worthwhile. No need to think too hard: *It’s a feeling. . .not a philosophy.* 📡🔥🫶🏽 *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ The same universal vibes are responsible for preserving the royalty of this music tradition: - *Legends* who embody the meaning of high vibrations. 🧿 This past week, revered drummer, *Roy Haynes celebrates 99 years of Life & an unparalleled legacy of rhythmic genius* 🥁❤‍🔥 …And our treasured tenor *“Big G” George Coleman, celebrates 89 years of brilliance as a sax sage & soulful master to a new era of musicians.* 🏆 *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ I adore the heartfelt comments of our community… 💡 Everyone who shares a connection with these cats, has felt the unmistakable impact of their ‘elite vibrations’, no matter where they are on the map. This synergy not only connects us to a classic era, but leads us towards new harmonic & rhythmic realms. I’m deliriously proud of sharing this tradition & journey with each of you. May we preserve these vibes, & a shared commitment to aspire higher. 📡🔥♥

@@gestor2008 they are playing the arrangement from Art Blakey's "Free For All" which featured Cedar Walton but I think that version was arranged by Freddie Hubbard so I don't know why they listed it as Walton's composition here

Guys - The track record with composer details has been respectably solid. The correct credit to Fischer was made: 1.) *Douglas Clare Fischer* - (a highly-regarded composer, who is male. The correct spelling has been included) - & I encourage checking out Fischer’s contributions to the Latin catalogue -as a Univ. of Michigan alum, I won’t hesitate to point out Fischer as a Michigan State grad. (any cat will speak the program’s praises.) *~*~*~*~*~*~* 2.) The reference of Cedar Walton was strictly to distinguish his specific album & recording date for *general knowledge* - and *not* to be inferred as the arrangement for this performance…No confusion intended. I’m here to honor the swing & not distract from it. - Walton has been a deep inspiration for Emmet & Joe’s had the great gift of being his sideman. While Blakey’s ‘64 recording can be heard, it’s my hope this Pensativa in Emmet’s living room will be recognized for its beautiful originality. If you’d like to offer an anecdote of Freddie’s arrangement with the Messengers I’m sure members of our community will dig the insight. ♥️🎯

Brian Lynch, outstanding musician, great sound quality, good taste, swing. Not sufficiently promoted in general and too little known on this side of the Atlantic... Seen in Nice (France) with Phil Woods in 1993, already exceptional, thank you for highlighting him in this context.

He was my guy! Split Second Timing was a must have early 1990s record. It was one of the best examples of jazz for that period. It is always on my recommended list. I have most of his records as leader. Speaking of Craig, When It’s Haynes It Roars was a bitch. Happy B-Day ROY!

Great performances all the way 'round. And let's show Brian Lynch some love. The man can still blow! And Craig Handy....the man is definitely channeling the ancestors on this session! Emmet is always a boss. But this is my first time digging the bassist. He blew my wig when he soloed on "Breakthrough"! And Joe Farnsworth is already a notorious swinger so I didn't even have to mention it. This has been about the tastiest couple of hours that I've spent in a long stretch of living and loving this music. And that's saying something!
