*Timeless Tunes in a Hot House* 🔥🎺🙌🏽 0:00 Time on My Hands (Vincent Youmans; lyr. H. Adamson, Mack Gordon) 5:22 Introduction of Band 07:03 No Blues ('Pfrancing') - (*M. Davis) 19:47 Jitterbug Waltz (Fats Waller) 32:29 Hot House (contrafact - What is This Thing Called Love) (Tadd Dameron) 43:37 Sharon (comp. Sean Jones) 56:29 Prof (Sean Jones; tribute to Prof. Bill Fielder) 1:05:28 Danny Boy/Londonderry Air (tradtl.); He Looked Beyond my Faults (gospel) 1:18:30 Dear John (Freddie Hubbard) 1:31:30 Joy Spring (Clifford Brown) 1:42:40 The "I Don’t Give a Damn" Blues (comp. Sean Jones) - (ft. S. Jones, B. Benack III, James Sarno - trumpet; Kofi Shepsu - drums) *(“No Blues” is attributed to Miles, but Sean asserts a different composer - my guess is Hank Mobley…jazz family, any one wanna wager on this daily double?) *Sean Jones is a master, mentor, and historian.* At the highest musical level, he proves that there’s not a *song* that’s not connected to a *story* *...and there is not a soul* that’s not connected to a song. *We are united by our narratives* - we may swing for different reasons, but we swing hella hard. *Last night’s performance was wildly special & we felt every ounce of energy from the living room stage.* A transmission of wisdom keeps the legacy alive…between teacher, student, enthusiast, & beyond. - *The jazz faithful become family.* *Emmet, Russell, Kyle, & esteemed guests:* We love you, cats - you bring us massive joy & reasons to swing even harder. 🙏🏽🔥🎼❤️

I have to say that I think this is the best one so far. The musical chemistry and virtuosity is off the charts here and every song has something groundbreaking about it. This needs to go down not only in musical history but all of history itself. Absolutely mind blowing performance. Thank you Emmet and the band!!

What's so great about those Sunday nights at Emmet's place is the buzz in the room - so different from the usual jazz club and so much closer to the spirit of jazz. At one end of the scale, there have been heart-melting moments which only the most able musicianship can create, and at the other, explosions of riotous liberated joy like the the final 10 minutes of this memorable night in Harlem. What a joy to have this being sent to us across the globe - makes the world feel smaller and safer.

Thank you, thank you : ) I play piano so I'm gonna vibe on Mr. Cohen, but this group is tight and each player is par' excellance! I love how you sound and notice how you listen to each other .....just great.

A lot of great musicians are going small in terms of band size these days. Understandable, but...how do you make a great trio even better? Add some Jones. Man, when standards are played like this, they never get old. It's like going back to the mountains in Colorado. They're new and beautiful every time.

Coming back to this now. They do Danny Boy with quite different changes as to what I'm used to playing it as. I guess it's the more traditional way. I don't go to the minor key stuff on the B section, keep it more bluesy. There's a Cory Henry organ version that's more what I'm used to. Neat to see these different interpretations. it has a totally different feel.
