The greatest guitarist of all time. The most unique finger picking style. However, he does use a thumb like a pick when he has to. Great percussive teqniques. There will never be a greater guitarist who shall ever live. Also as entertaining with his great personality he has the crowd extremely satisfied. Years of hard work & study. I have been playing 54 years, performed15 professionally, composed dynamic original material, and though I am in competition with only myself, he makes me want to burn my guitar. Also, one of the nicest, kind, & generous people who is always passing on & sharing his knowledge. Thank you Tommy & God Bless You.

This is the good way that real artists should also go. _________________________ Second, similar to you: David Bowie has been living in my city, but I even did not get aware of him... then I hear the news int he radio that this David Bowie died... not very far from my place, and I got to hear all these shocking good songs. Hard to fathom, I could now, just barley get him a Fender Squire... I myself, find pleasure in playing the guitar. It's what keeps me going... All of my Dad's friends committed suicide after returning from Vietnam... but the guitar my Mother and myself made him continue... There are no words to say what he has gone though... I leave this as a statement for myself and others... You can find peace in your heart, even if you think it's not there... Tommy, i love you, i love your music, and i was on your concert in Belgrade about 20 years ago. I must say something about serving country. People like me, and my brothers, Serbian soldiers, served country, defended country. American soldiers goes in other peoples countryes to fight some people they dont know anything about, for money. In our army there was everyone. teachers, doctors, athletes, engeneres...everyone left their jobes to defend country. In us army are people who cant do anything else...And no, they did not serve their country., their country was not attacked.
@flatoutt14 ай бұрын
i think that comment is a little short sighted and unfair .because although the US on occasion go a bit overboard in the self serving department .they help a bloody lot of people in need and get off their arse and actually intervene to help at their own cost[read gerda weismann klein ;she'd be dead if the US army hadn't rescued and looked after her and nursed her back to health and she was bloody grateful ] .just one example the US actively supporting ukraine in their struggle against an aggressor who's trying to steal their country. that takes guts in my view . now as an aussie we're still in their debt for the battle of the coral sea,although we've been bloody faithful friends and allies .

That's one of the many unique things about music. For a true musician/songwriter/performer, u aren't "playing to," you are "sharing with." Even if you're alone, you're sharing....with yourself, a pet, the ether itself, creating sound waves that will travel through the universe...forever. Tommy Emanuel's joy comes standard with every note he plays. And also, in his humor and humility, there is gratitude. It comes from feeling what every true musician feels, whether or not we communicate it through our music. We are able to adorn the silence, soothe, give therapy, if nothing else, create a memory or just create a smile. It is absolutely true that it is, and therefore, feels, better to give than to receive. Sharing...giving is what musicians do. And if we do it right, really, really right, we can light up the darkness, dispell hate, and yeah, one day, maybe, we can change the world....(pause to un-cringe after that cliche'...) Tommy Emanuel's joy tells me he is, not only a consummate musician, but a human being who, unlike some, hasn't forgotten that talent is a gift, and for gifts, one should be thankful. God love ya, Tommy. S.A.S.

I stumbled onto his music many years ago, I was trying to escape infomercials on late night TV and suddenly there he is, giving a concert on public television. I feel his guitar sound as "4D" orchestral, the notes seem to come from all directions as if their are four guitarists, on stage, not just one. In Spain I found similarities in Flamenco guitar when I'd hear performers play it in the streets. His music in its own, and shines just as a harp from heaven.

An incredible performance. Tommy makes the incredibly difficult look so easy. This is how the guitar was meant to be played.

Incredible music. Incredible dynamic. Incredible playing. Incredible stage presence. Incredible chemistry. Incredible art. Incredible sound. Incredible vibrations. Incredible spirit. Incredible energy. Incredible connection. Incredibly heartfelt. Incredibly generous. Incredibly human. Tommy E is for 'enigma' - we don't have to understand it - just be thankful and grateful we can experience it. Listening to and watching Tommy is pure joy and inspiration. Him being himself really shows the potential that we have in all of us to become our best selves. Thankyou and best wishes Tommy!! 🙏

I heard him, in an interview, say that he doesn't read music, or really write it out. The fact that he composes in his head, builds it into muscle memory, and remembers this vast library of his own songs and the work of others is absolutely amazing!

I think Tommy was born with a guitar attached to his body. It's just part of who he is - a true master of the instrument.
