We live in a world that actually places Warhol at a level about ten times higher up than Klee. Klee is base camp and Warhol would appear to be the summit. Prices paid show the extent of the spiritual vacuum endemic in our society. The depths of our self loathing are at an all time low. Where are we headed? I wonder if the idiotic purchaser of the Richter has ever actually taken the time, as the old Zen expression has it, to "fish the moon and cultivate the clouds".

I am new to the art - I do not even know who the Klee is. I do not too much understand why an abstractionism piece costs more than La Ferrari one - I might not like the fact as well. But for now I am already going to pay millions for Warhol's "Marilyn". Moreover, Michelangelo's piece worth hundreds of millions for sure.

It's all about age of work, the name and perceived value; and of course, people have different tastes in art! I admit, many living artist are actually better IMO, but unfortunately their work won't be worth the numbers you see here for 25yrs+...some won't even be alive!
