Take a Tour of our Lanai Garden! In Hawaii, a porch or patio is called a "Lanai". This south-facing garden (makai, or ocean-facing, in Hawaiian) gets a lot of sun, but DJ's 83-year old Grandmother has a green thumb and uses all recycled, reused, discarded, trash-to-treasure items for supplies, and kitchen scraps and leftover fruit and food for plants and seeds, fertilizer and compost.
This live stream video shows all the different plants she has growing in the small space, growing in recycled plastic containers: udon noodle bowls, yogurt containers, single serve plastic containers and coffee tins. Using vegetable scraps, banana peels, apple cores, leftovers from the kitchen and saved from the trash, to make fertilizer. And of course, EGG SHELLS!
Currently growing in her vegetable garden are heirloom tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, papaya and avocado. She has a lot of aloe vera, snake plants, jade plants, and a variety of succulents. Flowering Coleus too!
Thanks for watching! More details coming. Please comment if you have any questions, this is the first video in the 83 year old Grandma's Garden Series. 🤗❤️
