Friday was the day Wimbledon got back on track, with late night wins for Novak Djokovic and Marie Bouzkova ensuring that the schedule will now neatly return to having different halves of the draw on different days. Hallelujah.
At the end of it all, Catherine, David and Matt reviewed Novak Djokovic's efficiency, the hurt Andy Murray felt after losing in five sets to Stefanos Tsitsipas, Matteo Berrettini rediscovering his form, a career best moment for Christopher Eubanks, Iga Swiatek and Aryna Sabalenka winning despite not being at their best, the prospect of Ons Jabeur vs Bianca Andreescu on Centre Court tomorrow, the longest tiebreak in women's Grand Slam history, and big wins for Elina Svitolina and Victoria Azarenka.

😮 Djokovic's the ONLY human to hold at once all FOUR grand slams across THREE different surfaces in the five set format!!🎉

Nobody has a bad word to say about Bouzkova? Maybe not to her face, but pretty sure the locker room remembers her and Torribes-Tormo sort of influencing the umpire and getting their doubles opponents disqualified just a few weeks ago.

Yeah - that was low rent on Torricelli-Tormo’s part - also laughing about it.

I don't quite get David's comment about it being time Sinner met the players he is seeded to meet. Other than a couple of unexpected upsets in the Clay court season this year, isn't that exactly what he has been doing. He is seeded 8 which is i think the highest seeding he has had which means he should reach the quarters by seeding. Which he has in all 4 slams including Wimbledon last year. He can hardly help which players he faces there. What he hasn't done yet is break through with a big win over Novak etc. Or Alcaraz in a major though he has beaten him elsewhere. I also find Catherine's 'it's not as if he is mr charisma off the court' comment totally unnecessary. He is humble, pleasant, hard working and increasingly relaxing in interviews and showing a nice sense of humour.

Dalma Galfi has a booming serve and big groundstrokes. Her match against Alexandrova should be good.

Self correction, he has of course beaten Alcaraz at a slam at Wimbledon last year..i was thinking of the US open and that crucial match there.

If this line-call error in Andy Murray’s match isn’t THE reason for electronic line calling, idk what is…. 🤷🏻‍♀️ What a pity that human error (when there are alternatives) caused Andy’s loss. Or if not loss, definitely influenced the outcome. 😢

Question...Why is an unfinished match, of which there have been many this year, not the first one played on the schedule? I'm guessing it's TV related.

I imagine it's to give them opportunity for good rest. If they're finishing at 11, they won't get back to a hotel until at least midnight if not later once they've eaten and cooled down etc. Would then be tough to come back for first match if you allow for enough sleep and then getting up in time for breakfast, warmup, etc

If the Brits constructed a pair of roofs on Wimbledon then they also need to eliminate the curfew rule. It doesn't make any sense and it is unfair to the player that is ahead on the score.
@joannemoore3976

I believe it's not down to the tournament, the local residents resisted a later finish once the roofs were installed and later play became possible.

Agree, but I believe it's a local law/regulation of the London council within which Wimbledon is located (Merton), and therefore beyond the control of the Championships. I still think it could be lifted for a couple of weeks a year for one of the world's premier sporting events (and all the revenue it brings to the area) but this opinion carries no weight unfortunately.

The mayor of NYC had the approach/departure for JFK International Airport changed so that planes no longer flew directly over the stadium. But, don’t ask Wimbledon to adjust a curfew. Let’s be realistic…😂

Lol, Medvedev - a grand slam champion, with 20+ ATP titles, a former number 1, top 10 player for the past how many years, a current no. 3 has yet to play on center court at Wimbledon....if I am not mistaken. Yet Jannik has played there how many times already 😂? No disrespect to Sinner, I love him, but srsly Wimbledon has a weird choice for giving center court billing over the years.

Who does Chris Eubanks remind you of? With the improved backhand, she is like Arthur Ashe. Taller, but thin with a great serve and a good volley game to back it up. Sorry Cam Norrie & TCU fans!
