I plan to do some traveling and thought that would be a good excuse to buy a Korg Volca Sample. I expect to stuff it with my own recordings, but at the moment its just stock samples.

I'm assuming you are slaving the Korg Volca to the MicroBrute via MIDI, correct? Would explain how well it is synced up. I tried via CV gate and it seems to glitch and be off by about a few milliseconds.

Hi there! All percussive sounds are from the Volca, the synth line, base/keys as you call it, are from the Microbrute.

@Monotrailmusic
@Monotrailmusic 4 жыл бұрын
@@stefanhansen5882 I see. Would be dificult. You could try to sync the microbrutes square lfo to the sequencer, and then send the lfo to the sync in on the volca. But I have not tried that, and you will lose other functionality of the lfo.

You're using the "Sync-OUT & Gate" connection between Korg Volca and Microbrute (respectively) ?
@Monotrailmusic
@Monotrailmusic 6 жыл бұрын
No that doesn't work, the gate input from the Microbrute works for the envelope, not as a clock. Both devices are synced via ableton in this video.
@KristerNielsen
@KristerNielsen 7 жыл бұрын
This might be an odd question, but as a noob i can't figure our how you are syncing the two. Normally the Volca's use sync in/out but i assume this is done my MIDI?
@Monotrailmusic
@Monotrailmusic 7 жыл бұрын
No problem. Indeed all my gear is hooked up by Midi, with Ableton being the core and master clock. I have a laptop on the left, outside of the screen.

Are you using the motu for it's mixer features as I am for my volca microbrute JD-XI circuit set up?
@Monotrailmusic
@Monotrailmusic 7 жыл бұрын
No, most of the time for livejams I use a little mixer, ( the Behringer in this case, its a Mackie now), and record the mixed signal. I only use the Motu a lot if I want to use its 8 independant audio inputs.

Monotrail......I want to use my Korg Volca Sample with my Korg Microkorg and sync them. All I need is a Midi cable between the two, correct? So when I play the Microkorg the Sample will play as well, and vise versa right?
@Monotrailmusic
@Monotrailmusic 6 жыл бұрын
I never tried, so can't promise anything. But that should work. Midi in a cable only goes one way tho, so one would be the master clock, and the other the slave. I also don't think you can send "start" and "stop" messages from the microkorg to the volca, just a clock. If you own both I would say give it a try!

Great video! I have both the sample and the microbrute. I am just learning and know nothing about how to link the two. I also have FL studio. Can someone really simplify what exactly I need to do to play both and even record? Thanks!
@Monotrailmusic
@Monotrailmusic 6 жыл бұрын
Hello nathanjzim, both devices only have a Midi input, which means you need another midi clock to sync the devices to. fL studio can supply the clock, so if you have something to transmit midi from Fl studio (like an external audio interface), you can use that to send a midi clock to the Microbrute and Volca. Since you also ask how to record, I assume you don't have one, because that would be how ;) There are many different variations for different budgets which you need to research yourself. Most of them offer basic midi in and out, plus audio in and outputs to connenct your pc to the ouside world. PS: The microbrute also has a usb input, but im not sure if it can recieve a clock, chack the manual for that. PS 2: I suppose you could also try to sync the volca in to the Microbrutes clocked square lfo out. I have not yet tried this, but it could work.
