A decent conversation on a charged subject.Bigotry is missing but enormous tolerance of conflicting issues is evident. The speakers are a good choice ranging from a former self-confessed Sanghi to a journalist schooled in good background research with a more than nuanced appreciation of the Sangha Parivaar.Sekhri plays the silent interlocutor.Adaptability and good behaviour,secular service of the mother of the Sangha,RSS has been clearly brought out without jingoism or breast beating. RSS has adapted away from its orthodox and so-called divisive political ambitions to spawn a host of siblings (VHP,Hindu Sena etc) without taking responsibility.They are no illegitimate children but serve the mother or father's purpose.That the RSS and BJP are convergences and not run parallel is a justified view. Its internal struggles are chosen to be not made publicly.They have worked slowly but surely with people friendly policies to win Hindu hearts is true.But,the essential issues of its fascist character and subverting of all democratic institutions seems to have been given a pass in this conversation. The enormous contradiction between what is said and is practiced on ground to make India a crony capitalist economy is not discussed.So in the end we get to hear what the RSS perhaps has failed to tell the people but would much rather welcome this clever and reasoned appreciation of itself,BJP and Modi.The progressives in India need to know how to fight this kind of an ideological thrust.On first hearing it does not qualify as propaganda Well done !

On the deeper question raised by Fahim and the response from Mr Trivedi, there is huge difference between Nationalism and Patriotism. Nationalism solely cares about the territorial integrity of the Nation (think Patel). Whereas Patriotism is way more nuanced and concerns the esoteric and abstract aspects of the Nation, be it the culture, the languages, the ethnicities, the history, the social and economic equities in the society etc. Nehru understood this better than any of the founding fathers and therefore was a true patriot of the soil Patriots>>>>>Nationalists
