While most people celebrate Pride Month, across the Atlantic... We prioritize on a week-long remembrance for those Allied soldiers (Americans, British, Canadians and other more) who sacrificed their lives in the beaches of Normandy. Its been 80 years, they shall never EVER be forgotten.

How do you not know the Military holidays?...So Un American of you. National Military Appreciation Month falls in May each year. November - Is Military Family Month. There is also Veterans Day - Commemorating all those who served, National Day of the Deployed - Recognizing all those who are currently deployed and Memorial Day to honor the men and women who died while serving in the military. Thanks ABC7!!!! These parades can be broiling/roasting so the June Gloom really paid off! Now more than ever it seems we need this show of unity and community. Lately, there have been some people who have asked, "Do we really need a Gay Pride Parade anymore?" Based on some of the comments I have seen here, the answer is YES. There is still a lot of ignorance/misunderstanding about who we are and WHY we are. NONE of this "makes" a kid gay. I'm gay and came of age during a time that anything gay wasn't even spoken about. On June 28, 1970, on the one year anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising, the first Pride marches were held in New York, Los Angeles and Chicago. The fact that I'm alive , God loves me and the rest of the lgbtq + community including my bisexual self and I survived all the homophobic bs bigots put me through is something to be happy about. and the fact I get see people still willing fight against homophobia in america so that younger generations of lgbtq+ people won't have to experience homophobia first hand is something to be happy about. Yeah the fight against bigotry towards lgbtq + may not be over yet, but the fact we haven't given up and never will and we haven't been forced back into the closet is a whole lot to be happy about. Happy pride month to all my fellow lgbtq+ people and our allies because in spite of bigots trying to keep us down, we still have plenty of things to be happy about this pride month.😁🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈
