I am Brazilian, the slave trade here to Brazil contributed to the emergence of new traditional beliefs of African origin. Here we have the Jejê nation candomblé that has subgroups such as the Mahin, Mudubi, Savalu, Fon, Mina and Nagô Both worship the voduns, but each has its own way of cultivating and chanting. I am very happy to see videos like this, it shows that our roots remain intact in the land of our ancestors

@@SHANNY13_96 Studies estimate that 75% of the Africans sent to Brazil came from what is now Angola and the Congo. However, in Bahia, Maranhão and Pernambuco, many Africans arrived from what is now Benin, Togo, Nigeria and Ghana. However, these Africans from West Africa migrated to other regions of Brazil, but the northeast region of the country is where they were most concentrated, which is why Salvador and the city of Cachoeira do Recôncavo Baiano have a predominance of cult of vódùn.

@LaToya Ravenel My people, know the meaning of European words (vocabulary) this is not culture. It is a tradition. Culture is something from religious peoples. CULTURE MEANS CULT =HIDDEN URE= GERMANIC WORD MEANING TIME. So Culture means hidden time(s) Thats where religion is from. To believers is hidden, to knowledgeable once is Esoteric knowledge. Tradition is the understanding of nature you learn it tru practice from Father to Son. Tradition means is very short, the movement of the Sun. Peace 2 yAll

mitchell dk mitchell dk They are very scared and u sound like a compromised slave thats impressed with the Europeans inorganic creations of destruction. If they weren’t afraid, then they wouldn’t have forced our ancestors to convert to Christianity, Islam, Judaism, etc, or flood our streets with drugs to mentally program us to follow there way of life while destroyin ourselves now would they? Technological advancements within the Europeans “culture” is only progressive in the eyes of who finds that sort of technology “progressive”. There is nothin progressive about N.A.S.A nor nuclear bombs. What IS progressive is the ability to live freely off land without payin slave taxes or workin a 9 to 5 slave job like the Rastafarian community does, for example. Africans have not been left behind, it is u that lives ur life accordin to ur white masters standards who believes they’ve been left behind. Get out my thread nigga and go study ur masters “culture”.

nah dude i think for the future of our brown little children we should learn our history. you still talking to me about forgiveness like thats gonna solve something, we ARE being mistreated today all over the world and its largely in part due to Europeans thats just a fact. im not hating any one but when it comes down to it i know what they did to my grandmother from the stories shes told me, so dude really we need to understand the beast. i think you need to learn some history, look into the originial people that inhabited Haiti, the Tainos, look into American Indian History look into the revolutions that took place thru out S America, all this has to do with how we were stripped of our culture they called it devil worship and now our people run around saying praise jesus when the letter J wasnt added to the english language until 16 century. i mean do your research my brother, its hard but empowering to know the truth.

and you know i do hate Christianity for a lot of reasons for one your Messiah was never a christian nor were his disciples, ok look it up, lets just start you off there. christians separate christmas, ok did you know the Romans separated Christmas? they called Saturnalia 12/23 every year, look it up! ok? the bible was comprised by the Romans, the same people who crucified your god, the council of nicea comprised the books, the head of the council was emperor Constantine, the same one who persecuted Christians thru out the Roman Empire, look it up!!! the Romans were pagans who worshipped Zeus the name Jesus comes from the greek Iesous(not Hebrew) the suffix US is given to Roman names to venerate Zeus their prime deity, so when you tell anything about Jesus i know that aint my God, i know my God was not no Jesus, his name is Yahshua - Yah is my salvation. come with the facts about where you got that religion you believe in so fervently or kick rocks, STRAIT UP SCALPING HEADS FUCK THAT CAUCASIAN BULLSHIT.

The whole ancient Kemet/Kush idealogy pushed by African Americans gets tiring after a while. I've been to a Haitian vodun ceremony and to an Ewe spiritual ceremony. They were very different. I'm a Nilotic person from East Africa; we came down the Nile and in our spiritual history, the sun was a deity just like in ancient Egypt. We will also held deep reverence for snakes. But our stuff is nothing like an Orisha ceremony. And a Xhosa ceremony where they consult the ancestors is very different as well. Please stop saying it's all similar. We are not a monolithic group. Allow us to be the powerfully diverse and dynamic people that we are.

Africa tradition is not about wearing white clothes or wearing any uniforms things are raw and real in Africa, protection charms is what we do in my clan in West Africa is real that a pure Africa man who keeps himself clean and obey the rules and regulations of his bullet protection charms can't be killed by guns or cutlass is real and easy almost every Africans both those who believe in Christianity or not all have seen the powers of Africans supernatural powers, we are proud of our good charms meant for protection not to harm people lives

Don't be offended. The locals are very happy to see foreigners and hope more will come in the future. The festival exists since 93 and it's main focus is to share the animist culture and capitalize on tourism. This event was always meant to be international.

ckaz ruddy understood. But i'm talkin' about the mechanics of why they do what they do. Why & for what reason. I wanna know the foundation of why they do what they do not just the surface gestures. How it ties into the universe and cosmogony of their thinking. Juju or "voodoo" is more than just a "worship"
@suedecomponent8931
@suedecomponent8931 6 жыл бұрын
ckaz ruddy That's not nearly enough context. If you see someone dip hot blade in oil and ask "Why'd they do that," it's not enough of an answer to say "because they're making a knife". That's not enough context and nothing is learned.
@ckazruddy6796
@ckazruddy6796 6 жыл бұрын
Black Soul The "mechanics" of what they do now concerns the intricacies of the voodoo religion. You can't expect any laymen to know that, as you can see it's the priestly class performing the rituals. First find out the fundamentals of voodoo and then seek further in earnest.
@ckazruddy6796
@ckazruddy6796 6 жыл бұрын
Suede Component The context for your example would be metal forging. Regardless of what the final outcome/product is going to be, when you forge metal, it needs to be dipped in oil. Now if you had more that a passing interest in voodoo you would know that offerings/sacrifices are part of the religion. The real knowledge I suspect is reserved for the initiates/followers of voodoo.

FYI, we are older than your Jesus and the doctrine concocted in his name. Christianity is white supremacy because it teaches the Afrikan to disrespect his/her Ancestors, traditions, culture and spirituality. We are also older than any race on this earth and when all is said and done. it is not the one who claims supremacy that shall remain but the race descended from the first peoples of this earth AKA #TheAfrikan.

Nasser you bow down and kiss a Blackstone in Mecca and Islam oppressed and enslaved Africa and my ancestors where sent to the Americas, because of the Arab slave trade. Islamic people still practice slavery in 2019.

Responding to a previous interview you had with Yoruba Priests, Ifa is different from Vodoun. Although Ifa includes sacrifices and ritual, primarily Ifa is based on Orunmales, Orisa, Odus.

Please change the title of your text because this is not about "VODOO", but about the VODUNS cult that are different things. VODOO is nothing more than use of black magic fact that has nothing to do with the culture of orixás understood by VODUNS. The funny thing is that you were there and still post something whose title does not discriminate what is happening.

First of all it's not vodoo but vodou. Vodou is the religion of the Haitian masses. It originated from the vodoun practices and beliefs out of Africa. For your information, Black magic is black magic. It is practiced by people of all nations. Vodou It is a religion.. Go learn something about it before you write such comments.

I do agree though that the title Voodoo festival is inappropriate. The term voodoo is a Yankee imperialist invention.
