Hi Pinkacross, this is a Yanmega Hazard Stacking team in OU that I had somewhat success with (~1730), but I hit a wall from there. The idea of the team was inspired from your Sinistcha teambuilding video + the recent volcarona ban. With the volc ban, the new teams would be weak to what volc would kill, so I picked up Yanmega (tera fire), which functioned similarly to the offensive presence of volc. The Speed Evs is to outspeed the whole unboosted OU meta, bar deoxys-speed, so the rest is in Def to take kingambit sucker punch a bit better. Sinistcha is another wincon + spinblocker, Samurott is the spike setter and kingambit check, Tinkaton steals items, Ttar wallbreaks and is another special sponge and Excadrill is the 3rd wincon + speed control. Your teambuilding videos has inspired me to build my own teams with confidence, as they have been helpful to get the fundamental understanding of the teambuilding process, which I have struggled with for a long time. Keep up the insane work! :D ### Team ### Sinistcha @ Heavy-Duty Boots Ability: Heatproof Tera Type: Steel EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 Spe Bold Nature IVs: 0 Atk - Strength Sap - Matcha Gotcha - Shadow Ball - Calm Mind Samurott-Hisui (F) @ Assault Vest Ability: Sharpness Tera Type: Ghost EVs: 172 HP / 252 Atk / 84 Spe Adamant Nature - Ceaseless Edge - Razor Shell - Aqua Jet - Sacred Sword Tinkaton @ Air Balloon Ability: Pickpocket Tera Type: Water EVs: 248 HP / 24 SpD / 236 Spe Jolly Nature - Stealth Rock - Play Rough - Thunder Wave - Encore Yanmega (F) @ Heavy-Duty Boots Ability: Speed Boost Tera Type: Fire EVs: 32 Def / 252 SpA / 224 Spe Modest Nature IVs: 0 Atk - Bug Buzz - Air Slash - Tera Blast - Protect Tyranitar (F) @ Choice Band Ability: Sand Stream Tera Type: Ghost EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe Serious Nature - Knock Off - Stone Edge - Earthquake - Ice Punch Excadrill (F) @ Air Balloon Ability: Sand Rush Tera Type: Ghost EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe Jolly Nature - Swords Dance - Iron Head - Earthquake - Rapid Spin

Firstly, I really enjoyed this video, it's always nice to see something unscripted and hear your live thoughts about something you clearly know a lot of. Secondly, here is this team I put up in 2 minutes that for some reason made it close to the 1800's , I personally am not so proud of it but it somehow worked so im not sure. Sorry for the late reply, your comment was hidden, likely due to length. That first team looks pretty solid, I would go with SR Heatran instead of Assault Vest though-- this will help you get an SR setter, giving the team hazard stack capabilities, which is great with Sinistcha.

I've discovered your content recently and I really appreciate the educational content. Teambuilding is something I've always been interested in but I don't consider myself good at it lol. And this is the last iteration of my first proper built team, so the story behind it is quite curious. I had a friend that was in a Pixelmon server (Yes, the minecraft mod) and he always dreamed of doing a hazard stack team that managed to put as many hazards as possible. The thing is, current Pixelmon is not updated to the current state of gen 9, and obviously some pokemon are more difficult to get than others, so that's why I put the goal of building a decent enough team that avoided rare pokemon (and with the current moves available in the mod, thats why Samurott has Razor Shell instead of Aqua Cutter). So this is what I came up with: Skarmory @ Rocky Helmet Ability: Sturdy Tera Type: Steel EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD Bold Nature IVs: 0 Atk - Iron Defense - Roost - Whirlwind - Body Press Clodsire @ Leftovers Ability: Unaware Tera Type: Poison EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD Careful Nature - Toxic - Earthquake - Stealth Rock - Recover Samurott-Hisui @ Choice Scarf Ability: Sharpness Tera Type: Water EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe Adamant Nature - Ceaseless Edge - Flip Turn - Razor Shell - Sacred Sword Ribombee @ Focus Sash Ability: Shield Dust Tera Type: Bug EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe Timid Nature IVs: 0 Atk - Sticky Web - Moonblast - Psychic - Stun Spore Dragapult @ Choice Specs Ability: Infiltrator Tera Type: Dragon EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe Timid Nature - Draco Meteor - U-turn - Shadow Ball - Will-O-Wisp Rillaboom @ Choice Band Ability: Grassy Surge Tera Type: Grass EVs: 252 Atk / 96 SpD / 160 Spe Jolly Nature - Knock Off - Wood Hammer - U-turn - Grassy Glide I haven't touched many things like Tera (since its not currently part of the mod) and Evs bc I still don't get them quite right, but I got some results with this. Excuse the long explanation and thanks for offering this opportunity for teams review :3

Hi Pinka, I was fiddling around with a bulky-esque offense team Feeling good about the team so far, but I'm having trouble breaking stuff with the bulkier Gouging Fire set, in particular the heavier Tera Fairy mons. I'm not a super big fan of Flare Blitz since I feel like it cuts my longevity a bit too much, but I'd be open to trying it. Outside of that, I find that my team is a bit hazards weak, but Cinderace feels either too passive with the bulky set or too fragile with a more damaging variant. Running the other mons mainly to have Fire/Water/Grass and Dragon/Steel/Fairy cores and they fit for what I felt like worked on the team. In particular I'm enjoying Rilla to aid in passive recovery and halving the power of Ground moves for Gouging to set up. Also feeling the lack in stronger special attackers. Thanks in advance for any insight you can offer! Gouging Fire @ Leftovers Ability: Protosynthesis Tera Type: Poison EVs: 252 HP / 72 Atk / 104 Def / 16 SpD / 64 Spe Impish Nature - Dragon Dance - Heat Crash - Breaking Swipe - Morning Sun Kingambit (F) @ Leftovers Ability: Supreme Overlord Tera Type: Flying EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Spe Adamant Nature - Swords Dance - Kowtow Cleave - Sucker Punch - Iron Head Primarina (F) @ Assault Vest Ability: Torrent Tera Type: Steel EVs: 80 HP / 252 SpA / 176 Spe Modest Nature - Surf - Moonblast - Flip Turn - Psychic Noise Rillaboom (F) @ Choice Band Ability: Grassy Surge Tera Type: Grass EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe Adamant Nature - Grassy Glide - Wood Hammer - U-turn - Knock Off Landorus-Therian @ Rocky Helmet Ability: Intimidate Tera Type: Water EVs: 252 HP / 220 Def / 36 Spe Impish Nature - Stealth Rock - Earth Power - U-turn - Grass Knot Cinderace (F) @ Heavy-Duty Boots Ability: Libero Tera Type: Fire EVs: 224 HP / 32 Atk / 252 Spe Jolly Nature - Pyro Ball - U-turn - Will-O-Wisp - Court Change

Hey, awesome vid I loved seeing your teambuilding process and Mamoswine is one of my favs, got a few questions about the team : - You kept saying Mamo is not defensive so why go AV in that case ? Also why is he not, he doesn't have a lot of weaknesses with thick fat, one immunity and potential defense boost with snow - Why did you end up not going for any kind of electric mon/coverage when it compliments Mamo's stabs so well as you said - I recently watched you teambuilding vid where you say to not only think about OU mons but you haven't scrolled once to the UU mons, was there really no good option ? Like Keldeo or hydrapple idk i suck at building Thanks for the vid !
@pinkacross20428 ай бұрын
Glad you liked the video! :] - Mamo isn't a defensively useful Pokemon, but Assault Vest allows it to have some limited defensive utility in practice-- it's not enough to count on on paper, but it does make it more sturdy in games. Furthermore, there wasn't any other item that suited Mamo better in my opinion. Nevermelt Ice and CB both seemed generally worse than AV, which at least made Mamo a semi-check to Kyurem and Raging Bolt. - I ended up not going with any electric pokemon because it seemed too difficult to support defensively. Perhaps there is a way to do so, and I will try to find it in the future, but in this building session I was unsuccessful. Most usable electric types in OU (Raging Bolt, Zapdos, Thundurus) are also nearly useless defensively, making them difficult to pair with Mamo. - I briefly checked lower tiers when looking for specific type resistances in the video, but generally I stuck to OU. Partly this was laziness, maybe there was some good mon that would fit perfectly in UU. I found this unlikely though-- to support a pokemon like Mamo that has such little defensive utility, you often need pokemon that check a LOT of boxes in the remaining 5 slots, most of which are in OU.

Hello, here's a team that I'm doing relatively okay with but I do think it definitely needs some improvements. At 7:00 right now, and the big thing I see for offensive synergy is that an electric type would pair really well with Mamoswine. As you said, Mamo struggles to break Alo, Dozo, Corv, Skarm, Gliscor post tera, and I'll add on Lando T post tera and tera water Tusk. All of these mons are rather frail specially (unless Gliscor is a SpDef set, and SpDef Corv is nigh nonexistent rn) and weak to Electric, so maybe a Raging Bolt or a faster electric type from a lower tier that still is viable in OU? Something like Thunderbolt Dragapult may also do it, but stab can be monumental in the calcs

I am curious about the hypothetical version of this team that kept the Raging Neck, specs or not. The team could use more raw breaking power, especially those with type coverage to cover Mamos' shortcomings. If that mon is supposed to be the star of the show, it could help to have a strong, fast suicide breaker to soften potentially multiple pokemon on the team up in an attempt to stop it. So Mamo can have an easier time on cleanup. Well, at least that's my two sense on it, quality upload as usual sir Cross.
@pinkacross20428 ай бұрын
Yes I agree, I think there may be some way to fit Raging Neck or potentially Zapdos. Perhaps I could have found a way, but I didn't want this video to turn into 2 hours of me muttering to myself LOL, I'll try it off camera and see if I can come up with something

Question for ya pinkacross. I’m of the opinion that ghold shifting the tier around it towards hazards is unhealthy and limits set variety (requiring boots on some mons). However, I am willing to admit that it is a skill issue on my part, and I don’t have the high ladder experience to actually make this claim. I’m curious, in ur opinion, would a ghold ban be good or bad for the OU tier. Love the vids btw

I used to think we needed a Gholdengo ban... and I do think it would improve metagame health, even today. But honestly, hazard stack would still be quite similar without it. Removal in general sucks and most hazard stack teams don't even run Gholdengo these days.

Hey Pinkacross! I got some fire techs that have gotten me into top 20 on OU. I recently made this new variation on it (still using some of the old techs) and would be amazing to have your opinion on it. The idea is to overload on the special side, since glowking cant switch into overheat moth (2hko), and can catch a lot of the ground type leads off guard (lando and gliscor) for an OHKO. I wanted a volt switcher and crown seemed like the most suitable addition, since it can also beat blissey. Some weaknesses are lead darkrai (i have to pray ace doesnt get flintched or misses focus blast into garg) and pressure on tusk since its my switch into ogerpon (after tera)+raging bolt+kingambit Iron Moth @ Choice Specs Ability: Quark Drive Tera Type: Fire EVs: 252 SpA / 8 SpD / 248 Spe Modest Nature IVs: 0 Atk - Overheat - Sludge Wave - Discharge - Energy Ball Iron Crown @ Choice Specs Ability: Quark Drive Tera Type: Steel EVs: 24 HP / 252 SpA / 232 Spe Timid Nature IVs: 20 Atk - Volt Switch - Tachyon Cutter - Psyshock - Focus Blast Great Tusk @ Assault Vest Ability: Protosynthesis Tera Type: Dragon EVs: 248 HP / 4 Def / 244 SpD / 12 Spe Jolly Nature - Rapid Spin - Headlong Rush - Close Combat - Ice Spinner Slowking-Galar @ Heavy-Duty Boots Ability: Regenerator Tera Type: Water EVs: 248 HP / 8 SpA / 252 SpD Sassy Nature IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe - Ice Beam - Sludge Bomb - Psyshock - Chilly Reception Cinderace @ Heavy-Duty Boots Ability: Libero Tera Type: Fire EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe Jolly Nature - Pyro Ball - Sucker Punch - U-turn - Court Change Garganacl @ Leftovers Ability: Purifying Salt Tera Type: Ghost EVs: 248 HP / 240 Def / 16 SpD / 4 Spe Impish Nature - Iron Defense - Body Press - Salt Cure - Recover

@eraserdusting18408 ай бұрын
As you were building I kept thinking, "Why not add an Ogerpon of your own?", it fills the role of both (somewhat) checking itself, checking other water types, and Grass/Water STAB is complementary to Mamo for stuff like Mola & Dozo, + it still has pivoting with U-Turn and that last move slot could really be anything like Encore to help even more against Stall. Obviously Corv is still an issue but given that your builds trended towards including Cinderace/Heatran. Perhaps I'm missing something!
@pinkacross20428 ай бұрын
You are correct that Ogerpon matches well regarding Alomomola and Dozo, however I expected it would be too difficult to fit. Wellspring, like Mamo, offers little defensive utility and is not fast enough that it would satisfy speed control for the team. And, as you mentioned, both struggling against Corv / Skarm is not ideal. Still, perhaps it's a good core! I'll keep it in mind as I'm building! :]

Boss, if you say to always think offensive first, how do you build the bulkier teams? What if you want to go something like bulky balance or even semistall?
@pinkacross20428 ай бұрын
Even bulky balance and semistall needs to think offensively first-- the only playstyle where you DON'T think offensively first is stall. Let's use semistall for example. Semistall is like stall, except it has a way to make progress. So, let's suppose our semistall intends to break by using a 4 attacks Tera Ice Weavile + hazard stack, with Weavile as our one offenisve mon. We would want to add a Weavile, a Spikes Setter, an SR setter, and perhaps a glowking to provide Weavile with Future Sight support to help it break the pokemon it can't otherwise-- such as Alomomola, Dondozo, etc. Even if Weavile is the only offensive pokemon, this whole core is oriented around breaking and making progress and thus is "thinking offensively."

Time to share my terrible team idea; offensive Araquanid. With Water Bubble and Mystic Water combined allows for it to deal some serious damage, mostly against the most used Rapid Spin'ers; Great Tusk and Iron Treads. Infestation allows it to sometimes one vs one certain defensive hazard setters like Gliscor, although I feel like Araquanid lacks the longevity to reliably fullfill that role. Other 'mons are there to capitalize on the webs that with strong attacks (Specs Enamorus, max Atk. Lando) or to provide a safe pivot into these 'mons (Slowking-G, Incineroar). I chose Tera Poison Sinistcha as the last 'mon mostly as an alternative win con, considering that the foremost physical wall of the tier often get's blasted with a Hydro Pump. @@pinkacross2042 Thanks :D. Some context incase its helpful: I tried to follow your "how 2 build" tutorial, and I was going for a standard offense team. I started with sub moon as the star, and next I added Tusk because I imagined it would have good offensive synergy with moon as it'd check gambit & zama (& also add hazard removal). Then heatran was added to answer the fairies that give moon & tusk trouble and to have another answer for steel types since moon lacks EQ (and for stealth rock). From there, the team seemed weak to tusk and lacked a pivot so I went with Ogerpon, to also serve as a water sponge since tusk & heatran were weak to it. From there, the team seemed weak to fighting & zama so I went with Ghold. Finally, the team lacked a ground immunity & priority so I added Dnite The team hasnt been doing very good, I cant quite tell if its because Ive built a bad team or if im just playing it bad haha. I cooked this Comfey offense team while in class, and is the first team i ever made that got me to 1500Elo. I have gotten higher but usually with rent teams, so im pretty proud of what it has managed to do. I will include a more thoroough description on the comments. @tomaster25758 ай бұрын
The basics of it is to get rid of everything that walls comfey in order to let it go to town Comfey with triage is suprisingly powerful, as the healing from drainin kiss lets it 1v1 a lot of mons that you wouldnt think it could, however it does rely on super effective damage to deal any significant damage unboosted, even at +2 it 2hkos most threats, but since it heals and is decently bulky, there are few times where you get OHKOED at full hp. Tera blast ground is for steel and poison types that resist fairy, some examples could be Heatran, Glowking, Gambit (although it can 1v1 gambit untera'ed if it doesnt run iron head). Tera ground also lets it resist poison types, which is especially good against glowking. Encore helps comfey to set up against glowking and other slow, bulky threats, or even something like a roaring moon if you predict the ddance. Calm mind lets it deal actual decent damage lmao. The ev's reasoning is to let it live physical attacks, its pretty similar to why hatterene runs 252 def evs most of the time. Tusk serves as the hazard remover and alternative win con, bulk up rapid spin is no joke against most teams, i run ice spinned because i dont really have anything that can hit gliscor consistently enough. It really helps a lot with the gliscor matchup as you can bulk up while gliscor protects, threatening 2hkoes depending on the set. HBD to avoid hazard damage. Rillaboom is the wallbreaker and alternative priority, since the goal of the team is weakening the opposite team until comfey can set up and kill, rillaboom helps with that and can sometimes be the win condition against a lot of teams, especially rain as this team struggles with it. Knock off could be changed for something else but i enjoy the coverage it gives against ghosts and psychics. Grassy terrain also helps with team sustainability. Heatran is a very needed ice resist. It can trap certain threats and it itself threathens steel types like skarm and corvi. Taunt helps with utility. Air balloon for ground inmunity as it also helps against early gliscor and as a pivot. Willo helps with physical threats, especially if you predict a switch in. Lando T helps to glue the team. Curious why you only looked at OU mons in this video. Like, you seemed to be struggling to find the right mon to do what you specifically wanted at times, but you didn't even scan the UU tier. Is there a reason for that beyond "OU mons good, other mons bad"?
@pinkacross20428 ай бұрын
I probably should have searched more in lower tiers-- certainly they should be considered when building. Generally the reason I stuck to OU here though was because of the struggles Mamoswine has defensively. Pokemon that check a lot of boxes defensively are almost all in OU.

I've hit 1700 a couple times w/ teams made by other people, but this is team is the first team made by my own hands to get me to 1700s. I tried building around scizor since I want it to be good and I love the mon so much, but at the end of the day it ends up falling off against certain matchups and overall isn't great in the tier. I also put Zoroark Hisui in there so that I can have an offensive ghost prescense and as much as I know its better, I didn't wanna just throw pult on the team (plus the ghost immunity is nice). Other than those two I think the team is a pretty standard core. Scizor was originally banded but I found lum to be a bit better since it could take a wisp which is super common in the tier rn. There's another variation of the team w kingambit instead of zorarok h as well as the teams been integrated a couple times at this point. While this might not be the best of all the iterations it was my favorite. I'm probably too late to make a submission, but here's a team that has me averaging 1500 on the ladder. In previous metas, a team that resonates with me is able to bring me to 1700/1800, so I prioritised using a team that feels nice to use. That said, it's got some terrible matchups. Namely Waterpon. When that gets an SD up, I don't have the resources to stop it. The weirdest mon on my team is probably the specs Tera Fighting Keldeo, which is able to surprise some Meowscarada by OHKOing with Vacuum wave. That said, I'm fine with it being dropped. I have a question. When do you believe the (rough) cutoff of "generally viable in OU" is? UU? RUBL? RU? NUBL? I'd place it around RUBL, but I wanna know what you think.
@pinkacross20428 ай бұрын
Depends on the pokemon entirely. There are some UU pokemon I consider unviable, such as Donphan. Conversely, there are some ZU pokemon I think may be viable, such as Frosmoth and Scovillain. There are certainly more OU-viable pokemon in UU than ZU, but there's no cutoff.

I don't really understand earth power (instead of earthquake) on lando-T, it has a massive physical attack stat and you aren't running rillaboom. Is it because of the possibility of opposing rillaboom? And why not HH or also EP on mammoswine?
@pinkacross20428 ай бұрын
The reason I run Earth Power on Landorus is for Zamazenta, Great Tusk, and Gouging Fire. You are correct that Landorus has much more attack, but most things that Landorus wants to threaten have so much higher physical defense than special defense that Earth Power is often preferrable. I don't run EP on Mamoswine because it has terrible special attack, and I don't run High Horsepower because it's a worse Earthquake in most situations.

In theory, yes. Offensively those work very well together. In practice, supporting 3 pokemon that aren't super fast and provide very little defensive utility is going to be very, very difficult or more likely, impossible.

Why do you not invest more heavily into SpD with the EV spread? Don’t you get better value of the AV if you have a higher stat?
@pinkacross20428 ай бұрын
Actually, no-- how special bulk works is by multiplying HP and special defense, then once again by multipliers such as AV, which is 1.5x. Because they're all multipliers, the same rules apply as with regular EVing, where investing in the lower stat is more beneficial. In this case, it is more beneficial to invest in SpD because it is a lower stat, but the Assault Vest has nothing to do with this investment.
