I think Hawlucha is also a very neat Knock Off absorber. Not fazed by spikes, not bothered a lot by rocks, doubling it's speed upon losing item is a nice plus.
@greattitan3715 ай бұрын
Hawlucha doesn't have a lot of longevity though. It can't switch out after losing its item because it'll lose the unburden boost and be slower than it needs to be. It works better on a terrain HO style team because on those teams it doesn't need to ever switch out. Hawlucha is either gonna sweep or not be that useful.
@pinkacross20425 ай бұрын
Hawlucha has good Knock absorber attributes in theory, but in practice, it's pretty bad as a defensive pokemon, and it loses to a ton of common Knock Off users. Meow, Darkrai, Gliscor, Weavile, and Ival all destroy it.

A really good knock user that wasn't mentioned is walking wake. It deals with a lot of knock absorbers or can flip turn on clefable. Also the pokemon that it lures in like glowking also don't want to lose an item. I think its really under explored on none sun teams with assault vest, choice locked or just straight up booster energy for offensive hazard stack.

VERY true, Walking Wake with Knock Off and Scald is really nice. I personally prefer Leftovers on those sets though, and I run Knock Scald Flip Turn Protect.

What is a bulky hazard stack offense?
@sethnaffziger14025 ай бұрын
@@pinkacross2042 idk it was what I named it in my head, you would have a more correct name for it probably. I only managed to build one that works: I have a few bulkier offensive mons (that attack rather than boost) providing defensive switches and opportunities to pressure switches or ko mons, the ability to lay out spikes and rocks, and a couple pivots in Glo-king and dragapult (for spinners)... It might be a bastard hybrid of a few play styles but it felt offensive in nature, Upon thinking about it it might be structured more like a balance team. Anyway the idea that I want to pursue is a hazards team (spikes rocks) with a few bulky setup sweepers that can be used as pseudo win conditions but also swap in on certain threats, a couple good pivots and a form of powerful priority to avoid getting preyed on by Pon or Valiant.

Only a stall and bulky offense team left to be made by you
@twilightsilver62305 ай бұрын
Is toxapex viable in this metagame outside stall? It being my favourite pokemon, ive tried it on a lot of teams. Sure, it's bulkier on both sides, more so than clodsire, glowking, or alomomola, but in practice is worse due to being passive and lacking spikes, pivoting, or wish. The only set ive found so far that works decently is Toxic + Infestation + Recover + Haze for alright damage on things it can wall. Any tips? Thank you!
@pinkacross20424 ай бұрын
I would be inclined to say it's almost never good outside of stall, but it can probably fit on some balance / offense teams. Ejectpex may be cool on more offensive teams as well!

pinkacross i noticed you omitted heatran from your list of stealth rock setters... is this because you think its not particularly viable for hazard stack, or was it omitted for a different reason?
@pinkacross20425 ай бұрын
Not good on hstack, unless you run it with a Tusk. Heatran NEEDS leftovers to be on a bulky hstack, and therefore it can't run HDB, making it not great outside of Tusk hstack.

Currently attempting to build a team in this style. Do you think Hatterene could have a place on a bulky hazard stack team?

@blue_the_boy_kisser4 ай бұрын
@@pinkacross2042 Makes sense. I tried messing with it on some teams, but I couldnt think of a way to make it last as long as I would need it to. On a side note: How do you minimize the Ice, water, and ground weaknesses these teams tend to have? I can't tell if I'm just inexperienced, or if the pokemon that fit into this playstyle generally have issues holding up defensively against those types. Especially when I try to utilize Meowscarada as my knock user. I either build a team that gets demolished by Wogerpon and Kyurem, or I build a team that lacks specially defensive walls.

@pinkacross20425 ай бұрын
Gen 9 will NOT feel comfortable to anyone accustomed to pretty much any other generation of OU (other than maybe gen 7?). Hstack may play similarly to TSS, but the threats you have to play around are on a whole different level.
