Just FYI, I've worked as a CNA, my brother a police officer, and father an EMT as well as firefighter, so I've seen my fair share of death. That being said, that shit is human fat and tissue from a body that passed away and wasnt found for a while.....those who say its fungus aren't however completely wrong because fungus is part of decomposition but considering the chunks, smell, and tissue that leans more toward decomp of a body. My guess would be that they obtained the mattress from a dumpster because it's very rare for a body to sit in a hotel long enough for that kind of decomposition to transfer to the mattress since they typically try to push customers through quickly and do regular checks on them if they have overstayed their welcome (haven't paid for "extra" nights), although considering the state of the hotel I suppose there is still a slim possibility.....but in short, yes, I do believe you came into contact with a major biohazard aka human remains.....I'm glad you decided to not deal with the mattress further because you were right on the money Dan, you need a proper respirator to deal with something like that to avoid air born contaminants. Good call my friend.

That blood did not seep through sheets. It was directly deposited into that mattress because there was coagulated blood tissue in it. That would have stayed on the sheet. That was cast off blood, and if someone had been lying on it, the blood would have been smeared on there. That's a crime scene! That place needs to be closed down.

That is absolutely blood my mom had a condition where her nose would bleed non stop for hours I've seen a lot of dried blood all over the place and it looks exactly like this. It could be from someone decomposing on the bed as they said, but I doubt it if that were so it would be one large spot and be much worse, it was most likely from someone shooting up multiple times who stayed in that room a while and would fall asleep or nod out and then their arm/foot/leg/ass continued to bleed all over the bed or someone cut themselves bad or was shot/stabbed and had to recover hiding out from the law or had something similar to what my mom had that's my guesses. Side note not my place, but yall should try switching to vaping if you haven't tried it yet I smoked like a train for years, now I can't stand cigs and have noticed a serious difference in my health and lungs clearing up.

Really rough history. A small news search led to armed carjackings in that parking lot, numerous drug busts inside, prostitution, etc. It's considered 1 of 3 "problem inns" in that area.

The guy saying it was mold with the shrooms.. I don't agree with it, wouldn't make sense to me only being on one side of mattress and growing upside down if were thinking of mushrooms? (I mean they can grow upside down but more logical if upright or they could have rotated mattress) but I agree with Dan it looks more like tissue and blood with it it. Might have been shotgun splatter like comments said. A lot of suicide/murder scenes after being investigated are up to owners to take care of by calling a second party to professional clean it with right gear etc.. knowing this hotels conditions they probably did what dan said and just flipped mattress over as they believed it wouldn't be obvious to save a quick buck.

This hotel is known to rent to people for a week at a time. I have even seen a school bus drop off kids here. In garden style rooms there was a fire at one time. This was a holiday inn back in 80s and 90s and was nice back then. There is another run down hotel called something that I would love to see Dan do an adr at. Too bad this isn't in the city part of Laurel.

Oh gosh don't remind me. A wall in my house got infested from a leaky pipe. They move in fast here in the South. It smelled so bad too, probably why the guys think the entire place smells like a bathroom. Roaches cannibalize each other. Thank goodness we got it under control and cleaned up.

My partner and I endured a night at "The Garden" as it is so commonly known in Central Maryland. We didn't have as many roaches, but they made up for it in other ways! The management is outright nasty but the good news is any drug you want is available readily!

Someone was murdered and or passed away and their body decayed on that matteress. It seriously looks like same kind of spots that were on the chair my uncle died in. My uncles body sit in the chair baking in a 116 degree trailer for 3 days before I found him. I did not go in. I let the police do that but I walked up to the door. I could see the top of his head and smell the decay. Nothing smells worse.

Question to anyone with a forensic background: Why isn't there a concentrated area of that blood; when someone bleeds out you can expect to see a saturated area where the pooling settles along with the smaller ones but it's all in a drop pattern over the whole surface..?
