I noticed when you are calibrating in this way when you click calculate measurement you will either increase or decrease to reach 75db. What I've found in doing it this way it's at 200hz. I've found my clicking on 1,000hz it will result in a better sound as I typically avg at 75db at 1K over 2 octaves which is where pink noise is played. Just an observation and food for thought.

If you see a difference between the MultEQ-X calculated distance values and those reflected in the AVR’s menu then that means MultEQ-X is correcting for a known ‘bug’ contained in certain Denon/Marantz receivers (this is a well documented issue).

While true, this issue/bug only applies when using the microphone from Audyssey to calibrate your system. If I time align everything manually where it’s as close as can be based on impulse response, plug those distance numbers into MultEQ-X and then transfer filters to the receiver, the distance numbers are changed and the impulse peaks no longer match.

@ fair point but why would that be?

Your guess is as good as mine. I can only speculate, but my guess would be that it’s coded to correct for the bug at all times and doesn’t turn itself off in the case of manually inputting distances

@@HomeTheaterGamer Why aren't you plugging those numbers directly into the avr? And wouldn't life be so much easier if they referred to it as delay instead of distance.

Added to the description but you can also download them from Obsessive Compulsive Audiophile’s video here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gGjQhaKFjbmnY9Esi=nvHdAy-rfoktFDXB (Google Drive link is in his video description).

When it freezes, if you have your video signal off (I.e. Tv off) that corrects it.

How about Dirac live ?

Who exactly is your target audience for this calibration method? This just seems very time consuming and I just don't see myself spending this much time for a calibration that will not provide the results of a true target.
@HomeTheaterGamerАй бұрын
I’m honestly not sure. People keep asking for a full tutorial on it, so I guess they’re my target audience? I’m just sharing my process and the tutorial will be free for anyone to follow if they so desire. I do also not follow the notion of having a “true target” based on your room and system, as I’ve not found that to be what my ears prefer (way too much bass amongst other issues). Just not a huge fan of that approach but to each their own.

If you follow the referred link to OCA's videos, you'll see automated versions of this process (Maestro, more automated, and Nexus, more manual but more precise).
