Nintendo is selling individual Joycons separately, as well as pairs. You can buy one blue R and one red L and get a matching pair that way.

Have you ever tried to see if you can use the Amiibos on a reader without pulling them out of their box? I wonder if the RFID chip can get close enough to be read through the box. Are you going to try a two player games with the two halves of the controller held sideways?
