My family came from around there and I fished it around 1985 and caught a couple at half a pound. Never complain about salmon parr mate, they're gold dust down here in irvine.

Just joined the club , fished this stretch first outing with similar results , fished many streams and rivers in Britain and Ireland over the years but like you thoroughly enjoyed nymphing on this wee river and the Bervie , now 73 so share your exhaustion but well worth the effort , great video thanks, John.

It's hard going John, but worth the effort! 👍

I lived on Montrose for a time. I’m back home in Ireland but I loved exploring the esk, Bervie, Dee, Don rivers. I miss watching the pink foot landing in the estuary.

Thanks, it is a nice water as is The Bervie just along the road. Both are hard going for an auld man though. With the season end looming I'm just getting out as often as I can now. 😊

Stu's bouyant pogo nymphs?...maybe a rig set up from your travels to New Zealand Fred with a sheep's wool indicator ?...and beaded point/tail fly?...thanks for yet another very watchable and enjoyable video ...many thanks for sharing...love your videos, I always learn something new

That's exactly the setup I was using TK. Stu's pogo nymph is a great fish catcher. 😊

Thanks for your reply Fred...I look forward to a trip back down to NZ at some stage...amazing country / people and the trout fishing is not too shabby either :)

I'd love to get back there to TK, I think it might be a while yet though.

Thanks Robert it's great you enjoy them. What you see is what you get, just me catching mostly small trout and taking nonsense. 😂 Not long until the season ends now so there will be less scope for videos quite soon. I'm just getting out now when I can and hope people don't get bored with it all.

@@roberthouse2329 The name is Fred. There are not many of us left. 😂 I always fancied a cast on the famous Derbyshire Wye, but I guess a day there would get me several seasons on several rivers up here. 😊

@@wildfisher Hi Fred you would always be welcome to fish with me on the Derwent. I am a member of Cromford fly fishers. The Wye is expensive and dry fly only.

@@roberthouse2329 Thanks Robert. Once all this covid hassle is over I may well do that. I had heard The Wye was a bit exclusive and dry fly only. One day perhaps! 😊

Many thanks for the mention, much appreciated. Keep up the great work. Yours are also the sort of fishing videos I prefer, calm and relaxed just like I'm there fishing those rivers with you. Just need to work on my audio quality, maybe a camera upgrade over the winter.

Thanks Chris. I just use a Gopro Hero 7 Black and either my Sony AX53 or Nikon Z6 for the establishing shots. I shoot mostly in 1080 HD, have tried 4K once or twice but the advantages are not massive, the files are huge. 4K makes my computer creak a bit too.
@chrismatthewsflyfishing77243 жыл бұрын
I see the new Gopro 10 has 5.3k! I'll have to put a bank of computers in the basement 😀 1080 hd is more manageable on my current laptop.
@wildfisher3 жыл бұрын
@@chrismatthewsflyfishing7724 Yeah I'm sticking with 1080 for now. To be honest so many view these videos on phones 4K makes no difference.

High Fred , stupid question from a non-fisherman , is there a reason why you do not use polarising glasses to cut through the glare ?
@wildfisher3 жыл бұрын
Not a stupid question at al Phil. I do use polarising clip ons that fit on my regular specs but they are limited. The real problem is the reflection of the white sky on the water.

Enjoy the minimalism of your videos and the purity of wild fishing. What rod and reel set-up are you using?
@wildfisher2 жыл бұрын
Thanks. 😊The setup that day was my standard - Sage ZXL 9 foot #4 WT, Vosseler DC3 reel and a Scientific Anglers GPX taper floating line.

@@wildfisher i used to carry an 9ft and an 11ft for switching between the two, before i realised that each does the others job just as well. i just dont like goldheads chipping the finish off my Hardy so i rarely use wets. plus Im too lazy nowdays.
