You look like a well informed lady, thank you for what you’re doing. I was born in Santo Domino, and I’ve been living in the USA for 40 plus years and I went to the DR 38 years ago the last time, and I’m tired now, I’m planning to go back and see if I can spend some time there.

She is funny - so cool - to see her having fun and adapting to the culture - I am leaving next year bought in PUNTA CANA - she is the most realistic to the expenses - more than $10.00 for food per person is more then enough to eat well - drinks extra - MERCADO - serve good food and fresh -

Yes, for only 10$ you can eat 1 time, but normal people eat several times a day. Local food in local cafes is cheaper, but it is tasteless, unhealthy and of poor quality.

They say that "education is important"... but you will find that approx. 1/2 of the adults there are literate. - Good name for channel. There's an 'undone' feeling there... and I believe it's on purpose. Very rarely will you find all the 't's crossed and 'i's dotted. But then things are changing everywhere.... so maybe it's a good place to go.

Noo, retirement visa ,over there is a minimum of $1,500 a month, you can be there with a tourist visa, but that kind of defeat the purpose to be sneaky with immigration, you can probably live good over there with a $1000 a month, as a single person, but it will be more if you have a wife and kids added to the combo!!

I gave up on Mexico as the country is being devoured by a spreading cancer of the cartels, bribing out the police, army, politicians, mayors, etc. It's not just a local nuisance. Will Dominican Republic head into the same situation with the worsening conflict with Haiti??

Not at all. The Dominican Republic has been fighting with tooth and nails to contain the situation, the right way and rough way, for which often time we get criticized by international news outlets and stupid social media. However, I must say that as person who has been around the world, just few places in DR who can consider unsafe, just like here in the US … if you come the Bronx here in NY, North Philly or Baltimore .. I suggest to run 🏃🏽‍♀️ for your life, because that’s exactly what did the last time I visited those places. I still love America 🇺🇸 consider myself American 🇺🇸 for the past 30 years of my life, but my heart still there in DR 🇩🇴😊

I don't agree with you. She is detached from real life in the Dominican Republic because her range of communication/demands/interests is very narrow=specific. The lady represents the excellent small middle class of Dominicans who live in Punta Cana, which is itself a territory in a "country within a country". The lady does not belong to any of the large population groups that make up the majority of consumers in this country, so her advice must be seen as narrowly oriented.

When they build so much in DR, people will suffer food, and the country will turn to the same like U.S with processed food. This is bad
@Reality-worldwar3
@Reality-worldwar3 4 ай бұрын
It is an illusion that is from ignorance of reality. The DR has very low quality food because they use a lot of pesticides to get a quick harvest without cultivating it. Chickens and livestock are fed waste from food companies. Quality vegetables and fruits are only available on farms owned by foreigners, who (mostly) have created them because there is no quality food in the DR. The locals have no education about what constitutes quality food and the state (DR) is trying to improve the situation with a program that promotes the use of vegetables in the diet. But nowhere do they say that vegetables must be chemical-free, it's not that far yet.

Yes, your government, which you elected, does not care about you - that's true. But you live off the money that the gringo brings to your country, because the gringo buys your goods and services. Gringo money keeps and feeds the poor Dominicans, but they don't understand it. Those who are lucky and have been able to get a good education understand this well.
