14/179 videos shuffled in the Modular Synthesiser Patches playlist. I’ve got some work to do. Very very pleasant work. You make incredible patches, man. Brilliant display of discipline and creativity.

Thank you Dan. About a months worth of patching making patterns.

@@LukeKillendo you talk anywhere about how you work? What your process is for patching, building patterns and stitching them together? I'd love to know more about how you do this.
@LukeKillen5 жыл бұрын
@@dan_dorjay I'm happy to answer any questions about my process. With live sets i tend to decide on what kind music i want to play for the set, then build the core patch over couple of weeks that enables those kinds of timbres. I giving myself lots for time to ensure that i can certain transform timbres in a few ways and patch enough CVs to the Cirklon that will allow me to to transforms stuff over time. During that time i'll also build some core movements in the set in the form of Cirklon scenes. like snapshots of where I want the music to be at a point in the set. Once i have enough of those core scenes, i'll work out patterns which will bridge them nicely and add breakdowns or variations for a passage. Sometimes at that point i may add more CVs from the Cirklon (if there are any left) to the patch, to enable movements over time. at the end i'll build an intro and an outtro. With non Cirklon music, i tend to choose a feel, a Genre or concept and try to achieve it withing the confines of the modular, living with the compromises which that creates. which is kind of nice.

I like how it's MONO. Do you always mix/record in mono, or it is just something that heppened for the video?
@LukeKillen3 жыл бұрын
Thanks. Most of my eurorack is mono, so I just mix mono and occasionally pan or phase invert and widen if I think it can deal or needs it.

What did you use for recording? Nice jam. Good luck. BTW I have both, G2 and Circklon lol

Thanks. I record six tracks from the Euro and split the channels from the G2 parts over the four outputs.

Another excellent video.. would love to see a video breaking down some of these patches.. also, your tracks are hardly ever muddy and levels/eq are spot on - do you do a lot of post work in a DAW to achieve this?
@LukeKillen6 жыл бұрын
Thanks nikarga. I mix all my patches directly into my DAW and monitor live. I use it pretty much as a multitrack recorder/ FX unit. I apply processing as it's needed as i complete the patch. Sometimes outboard, sometimes in the DAW.
@nikarga6 жыл бұрын
Very interesting. I noticed you're not using a Drum Mux either, just the Cirklon BoB.. Anyway thank you for sharing these fantastic sequences... You are not only a good musician but a master of the Cirklon (which I am still learning...)
@LukeKillen6 жыл бұрын
I would like the Drum Mux at some point. as it would give me more trigger options and free up some gates, but there is plenty to keep me busy on the BOB for now. :)
@nikarga6 жыл бұрын
luke btw what case are you using?

It's an Amalgamod 12RU 104hp. This one is in ABS and Alluminium.

those are incredible.. I'd love to get one. Anyway brother Sub'd a while ago and following your music, keep up the excellent work - its inspiring. When/If you ever get the chance, sending a link to ModularGrid for your current setup would be most interesting!
@LukeKillen6 жыл бұрын
Thanks nikarga. Current modular grid is in the channel description. For older videos it will be out of date but always what i have in the rack now.

Lovely stuff Luke. Just a question re the breakout box; each of the sixteen instrument/track buttons are labelled; how do they each correspond to the outputs from the breakout box in terms of gates/cvs/clocks? I'm trying to figure out the eurorack aspect of it in terms of outputs from the bo box to the inputs of the modules in your rack. (I've been waiting 4yrs and 2 months for my cirklon, so hopefully by April '23 I'll have it if not earlier). Many thanks in advance.
@LukeKillen2 жыл бұрын
Thanks, don’t worry the wait is worth it. The jacks on the breakout box have 8 gate outputs as well as 16 configurable I/O that can be anything from cv, envelopes or inputs. So you more or less program it how you prefer it and then save that as an Instrument.
