Because the PBT is inadmissable in court. We do it last because we don't want it to influence how we judge the actual field sobriety tests (which are admissable in court.) The PBT is just an extra tool to prove P.C, but you can't solely rely on it.

Little known fact is that the breathilzer portion of the impaiment field test accounts for 90% of your overall grade

Even if you pass the tests, they most likely will still arrest you. At least here in AZ they do. I had it happen to me. Officer told me I passed all FST’s, did not have me do a breathalyzer, and then he placed me under arrest to take me to the station for a blood draw. I had not drank in over 12 hours and the only reason I was pulled over was because it was my girls car and her registration was suspended and she never told me. It was a bunch of BS. I clearly was not impaired. It shouldn’t matter what the blood test shows.

Rubycon99 I can't pass the field sobriety test to save my life! I can follow the pen w/ my eyes and the one they sometimes do where u count. But the walking heel to toe and standing on one leg I flat out fail. I'm the type of person that can trip on an empty sidewalk stone cold sober.

I got pulled for going 81 in a 45 a couple weeks ago. No doubt about it, i was drunk. Maybe a .12 or so. Passed the sobriety test with flying colors. Officer gave me a speeding ticket for 70 in a 45, sent me on my way. I woke up later the next morning still drunk.
