Kirin J Callinan has drawn a metophoric career slingshot from critical accliam and celebrity endorsements that right now is armed and aimed high. Starring first in the seminal band Mercy Arms, Kirin shed the band skin and went solo with the brilliant but brutal 2013 debut album ‘Embracism’ on the UK’s pretigious XL Records. The album arrived with wildly acclaimed videos for ‘Way II War’ by Kris Moyes and ‘Landslide’ by Vince Vendetta.

Its on purpose, the plectrum thing - anyone whos played acoustic knows you just lie the guitar on its back, then shuffle the plectrum till its right below the hole then flip it over real quick, 80% of the time just lands on the strings. Its clever though as people thought it was real.

Alex Ordonez Exactly. How could so much time be spent on it if it was real? Most shows have a second guitar or something in case of this. Also, he said BRAVADO in such a shy way, I'm compelled to believe he was joking throughout. Also, if you've seen his interviews, etc, and have heard of his previous antics, you'll know this is all a part of an act that he pulls of very well. His entire persona is pure genius. Either that or I'm Rick-And-Morty-ing Kirin J Callinan.

it was a song called Bravado and he's been performing for awhile. if it wasn't clear by his opening line about making history, or the unplugging of the quiet tinny guitar, or the inability to include the audience in the song without hem drowning him out, or the forgetting that his voice doesn't carry without the mic... then it won't be the fake pick drop that'll convince you the entire second act was performance art over music.
