Was in Weymouth last weekend & was walking late near Portland. Some (assuming British as spoke English) guy jumped out from some trees and said he would pay us to help put his tent up. Sure, here's my wallet, and here's my phone! Made a hasty retreat apologising that we couldn't help (English people and their manners 😅.) Then the next night was walking along the beach & two families had tents on the beach, cooking over a firepit. One family looked Indian and the other family, British. Newborn baby in woman's arms. Either they were on a cheap holiday or are homeless & joined forces for protection 🤔

A lot of homeless have drink or drug addictions The others have broke up with partners. Most homeless dont beg. Most beggars aren't homeless. That's my experience. I was homeless 4 years ago and I still occasionally see people I know. Most town centres do free meals and a program of where and when. Usually a few times every day but you need to be able to walk across town centre to get to the next venue. The soup kitchens and sandwich stalls are organised by different charites

Seeing a lot parked vehicles around with blacked out windows they are large vans and in some cases proper motor homes. A lot are living in vehicle's. The housing situation is very bad. Housing os far too expensive for most people.

I used to live in Trafford, it's a big borough, some nice areas and some deprived areas. I can believe the figures, there's a huge demand for housing, many problems from poverty, less jobs, and big influx of non natives. They are building a massive new estate in Carrington but I doubt it will be enough. All the big employers are gone. Manchester's population is expanding rapidly, glad I moved out when I did. The decline in the last 4 years has been shocking. Trafford has been close to bankruptcy too.

@@sweeta17 The problem is escalating faster than than solutions being found. The wealthy class walked away. At least in the Victorian times, there were people trying to change things, e.g. sanitation, schools, more trades etc. Just look at the crowd in power, subsidised meals, bar and expenses allowance, not a backbone or bit of moral fibre between them. 4M people on foodbanks & 7M people have just one meal a day.

Western OR, US---seems like most of the problems are in big cities, but some problems in medium cities too. Not much problem in small towns. I live near a town of about 5,000 and there aren't any tents in this area. It's pretty rural.

I'm blessed to have moved to deepest Brittany in 2003. Monocultural and good community...but the cities are going downhill..... Paris, Rennes, Marseille for example. Pretty much all migrant crime. So far the countryside is ok because France is a lot bigger than England with approx the same population.....and gun ownership within the rural population is high and the Gendarmerie are tooled up. No one gets up to nonsense and gets away with it. Eyes everywhere. I'd worked in London from 1994 to 2003 and came to hate the place despite having a nice house and good job. But I saw too much even back then, East End of London. Gangs, attacks, machetes, threats, SA of lone women. And it's got worse. I visited Birmingham 6 years back to visit childhood and teenage haunts and it was bizarre.....the place pretty much the same but with an alien invasion. There were drunks, beggars and nutters on the streets even at 8am in the city centre. Public behaviour was very "edgy". Sad. Talking to people in the bank and British Legion shop they told me how risky the place had become.
