I for one would love a middle ground between leatherbounds and regular editions, and these secret projects have been some of the best books I own. Putting an excellent artist and giving them free reign has really worked well and improved stories, like the Frugal Wizard cartoon additions.

I'd like more DS enhanced hard covers like the secret projects. I'm not willing to get a leather-bound for all of them, but I'm willing to get more of these enhanced ones

I would especially enjoy more pretty art like the secret projects. I think a special edition would be a perfect in between of a beautiful book, but one I am still willing to read and use.

I typically buy ebooks for most things, but I always buy the hard covers for Stormlight because they are so beautiful. But I am loving the secret project DS editions, and wish every book I got from you was like that! That said, I don't really want multiple physical copies of the same book. So my request would be that if there is a special edition, it is available at launch, so the special version is the one I get.

You would love One Piece, Brandon. The live action is good, but the manga is a masterpiece. I have an impression that Oda's approaches to storytelling are pretty similar to yours in a lot of way. I remember you said in Reddit some time ago that outlining a story is like playing a Tetris. Oda said the same thing in one of his interviews years ago. He's also very good at world-building, creating interesting characters, ensuring the plot progression throughout such a long series, weaving in great mysteries and clues, tying up all the loose ends in a very satisfying way, and creating epic and memorable scenes, all of which you're very good at. And as any of his fans will tell you, he's also the god of foreshadowing.

Agree. 90% of the quality at 60% of the price
@kaladinstormblessed9626 Жыл бұрын
@Florkl I think what makes them so special is that each is entirely designed by 1 artist and you can feel that singular artistic vision through the presentation of the entire book.

I would love Dragonsteel Hardcover Editions to match with the secret projects...while the Leatherbounds are beautiful, they are not really my style and a little above my price range, so yeah, I would totally buy premium hardcovers of all the books!

The art on the covers of the secret projects is so cool and I would like it if other cosmere books had more dynamic covers like them. The leatherbounds are cool for like, someone’s home office bookshelf but they’re a little same-ey

Id love higher end (non leatherbound) versions of your books! Currently I own all leatherbounds, but having say Skyward Flight in a higher end edition would fit my bookshelf a bit more. I doubt they are big enough for leatherbounds though.

Make sure Remnant 2 is on Brandon's radar. Dark-souls co-op shooter. I bounced off the first one, but this is a true, refined masterpiece. Could be a great option to play with two of your kids.

I am surprised the Hoid box didn't have the best reception. I really enjoyed it, use the mouse pad in my home office, and wear the T shirt weekly. It was the easiest box to use consistently but the more standard swag vs all the unique stuff later.

I was baffled by Brandon saying that there had been no good adaptations of Sir Pterry's work until Good Omens; then I realized that he probably was only referring to that horrible Night Watch show. He really should watch the excellent BBC movies like "Hogfather" and "Going Postal". Truly great productions and perfect casting.

Some random thoughts: My personal feeling on copyright is that it should be author's life plus something like 20-25 years, but then be renewable for a non-trivial fee. I don't have a problem with things like the Great Ormond Street Hospital perpetual copyright in Peter Pan, nor with, say, Disney keeping the rights to Mickey Mouse, or even characters like Superman being perpetually under corporate ownership (any attempts to do things with, say, Superman are going to be legally interesting anyway since so much of the modern understanding of the character involves elements that weren't present in the first decade or two of the character's existence). The key thing is going to be figuring out suitable fees so that people who are still successfully making money off a particular character or setting can afford to renew, but all the silent IP - everything that's been forgotten and pretty much lost - all of that gets released rather than some publishing house choosing to dip into their petty cash to keep hold of everything. The Lensman books, the Abbey Girls, the Sector General series, Villains By Necessity... All the stuff that the rights-holders have no interest in publishing, but no-one else can do anything with. That should be out in the public domain rather than sealed up in some forgotten vault... *** Collaboration, shared universes and fanfic did, at one point, look like it could be a lot more open than it's turned out. The problem, of course, is the Darkover Incident, where MZB and a fan had a difference of opinion over a particular element the fan came up with, and MZB wanted to adopt and canonise (for a fee) but someone invoked lawyers and the whole thing ended up as a mess (there are various conflicting versions out there, with contradictory reports from the people directly involved, but that much seems to be agreed) and that had a chilling effect far beyond the Darkover fandom... *** When it comes to spoilers, while I can easily believe that, if you're only going to read a given book once, you'll get the most out of that one reading if you go in with general spoilers about it, if you read it more than once, every time after the first, you will automatically have full spoilers (unless you wait long enough to completely forget the book, and not even have your memory jogged by rereading it), while you can only ever go in blind once. So, if there's any value to having the experience of a blind read in addition to having full-spoiler re-reads, then, if you expect to read a given book more than once, you should avoid spoilers on the first read.

A VS style book would be freaking awesome, though I don't know how the logistics would work.
@Landis963 Жыл бұрын
You could do it in a sort of epistolary style, I think. Writer 1 (say, Brandon) writes a chapter from one party's perspective, then sends that chapter over to Writer 2 (say, Pat), who writes a chapter from the opposing perspective which is then sent to Brandon, and so on until Writer 3 (say, George) says the ending needs to happen, at which point all three writers and a swarm of editors descend upon the collected material and somehow get two books out of it.

I just want to chime in that while i absolutely love the covers for the secret projects and have all the leatherbounds it would be a bit overkill to release the old books on a inbetween level with leatherbound and regular Hardcover. I would prefer if the focus was instead on making the leatherbound as good as possible.

I personally think one of the cosmere series should be done as an anime. It's the one medium I believe that would be able to portray every aspect of the stories without having to leave anything out.

They have decided to make it after this year. Pretty sure that they said March. This will mean though that people will get the books Pretty quick because they are already at the warehouse. So it isn't that much of a delay from where we will recieve the books.
