If you pass Wacken grounds nowadays and listen carefully, you can still hear the crowd singing! :-)

Aside from the time signature change in "The Bard's Song" throwing them off, this is the most on-tempo crowd I've ever heard! Amazing.

it was amazing to be in that crowd... but it´s not uncommon that the crowd is that good with this song....

It's too bad Blind Guardian never perform The Eldar live, and that the song doesn't have any music video or anything. But if you want to *TRULY* hear Hansi Kursch using his voice to its full extent, that song is the one to listen to. He goes from hauntingly beautiful and fragile to some gut-busting screams, only accompanied by a piano.

Yes!!! I wish *any* vocal coach would react to that song, it's hauntingly beautiful!

One of the best songs they ever did and possibly Hansi's finest hour. Also kind of unique in their discography. I don't think they have another song in their catalogue that sounds anything like it. Here's to hoping more people will give it a go!

I saw these guys in a much smaller venue (“only” ~4000 people) just 2 weeks ago. And I will see them again in two weeks time. This time in an even smaller club. In this video you don’t see Hansi head-banging, swirling and digging the music, but he does that during the solos.

Hansi has been doing a lot of guest appearances in songs the last few years. I saw them live a few years ago and being in that crowd singing along to Bard's Song is an absolutely amazing feeling when you are surrounded by other people also singing along.

As far as genre goes, BG are usually labeled a power metal band, but honestly they don't fit that box very neatly. Valhalla is an older song of theirs, and more of a speed/thrash metal piece. They got more melodic going forward.

I saw them live in july this year and even tho hansi has covid and still had problems with his voice it was just majestic. I loooove them

This was at Wacken Open Air 2016, where 84500 visitors were in attendance, and this was on the main stage where the majority of those people fit in front of. And I didn't see that much empty space. So if there weren't 60000 then call it 50000 people, who almost universally know your song by heart well enough to sing along. Largely in tune and in time. Hansi, the man with the mic, was honestly mostly superfluous to the proceedings. What greater accomplishment could a musician aspire to, than to have your music so ingrained in the souls of so many people? And this is off an album that just celebrated its 30th birthday (released june 30th 1992). Therefore I confidently dare call it a truly timeless classic.

In many ways you could argue that Queen and Iron Maiden were the bands who "invented" huge crowds singing along to their songs, but Blind Guardian perfected it. These two bands are also probably the biggest general influences BG has. Regarding their presence on stage, they did more than their fair share of headbanging and running around the stage when they were younger. If you can find clips of them from the late '90s, especially Hansi used to be completely crazy on stage. That's because he used to play the bass for the band, but when he stopped playing to focus more on singing, for a few years he had no idea how to behave on stage without the bass, so he just went completely hyperactive.

Hi Christi Hansi has a great voice and I really like this video. I watched this sometime after watching Aeryeon. The video was The day the world breaks down. I like your horns. Hansi and André are a songwriting duo that owes nothing to Arjen. To confirm check out And Then There Was Silence. Three other bands that this power metal aficcionado would say are mandatory are Helloween, Angra and Rhapsody of Fire. Dragonforce is good, those are the Greats (together with BG).

So I'm new to your channel, so I'm not sure if you've done any of the following, but if you liked this, you might also enjoy bands like Sonata Arctica (for instance the song "the Wolf and the Raven"), Stratovarius ("Black Diamond") and Dragonforce ("Through the Fire and Flames"). I really like your open mindedness and also that you acknowledge that you probably have had some prejudices about Metal that are now being removed by experiencing all these talented bands. Wish more people would actively listen to metal before just dismissing it as "noise". So thank you very much for taking your time and applying your expertise on the music genre I love so much :)

Very good choice!!! If you like some new... try FEUERSCHWANZ - Warriors Of The World United (the best cover of Manowar's song!). or... something special... Apocalyptica - 'Seemann' feat. Nina Hagen - this is a cover of a RAMMSTEIN song and Nina Hagen was in Germany in the 80s the „Godmother of Punk“ ! But she has an extreme range in her voice. You have to have heard her. Also the old stuff, from the 80s, which was a bit "crazier". She was born in East Germany (then GDR) and had vocal training there.

You are going back to the beginning but you haven't covered Manowar or Exciter or other seminal influences on the various metal subgenres? Without Exciter, we may never have had the big four. People always seem to forget them in the conversation about metal pioneers. If you want to hear a song that really demonstrates Hansi's range and capabilities, the fiddler on the green from demons and wizards might be his magnum opus.

It has been a really long time (10 months?) since you last reacted to Home Free, and they have released many new songs since then. I'd like to recommend either 'The Driver', which has outstanding harmonies as well as a great story line, or one of their newer releases, 'Listen To The Music', a cover of the Doobie Brother 1972 classic hit. I know that you would love either of these great Home Free songs.

Pls try out LOVEBITES, they are all female Japanese J-metal band who sing in English. They are talented beyond belief. They do thrash, power, progressive, and ballads. Literally, once in a lifetime band. Drummer is 4' 9", tallest member is 5' 2" to put it into perspective. This is a power metal song, wait till you hear Asami's belts in their more progressive songs, she's amazing considering she didn't know metal before joining the band. Enjoy! Lovely reaction. Really enjoy Blind Guardian. A song off their latest album that I like is Secrets of the American Gods. A couple of other recommendations. Avantasia just released a new song and video that features Floor Jansen and Tobias Sammet in a duet. She sings in a lower register then she normally does, beautifully of course. Gorgeous harmonies. You may remember Tobias from Ayreon's The Day that the World Breaks Down as the cocky Captain. kzbin.info/www/bejne/iIOqYXeFZr55n8U. The other is for Dutch band with an amazing female singer, Blackbriar. Kind of Gothic/Symphonic Metal. My favorite song of theirs is Fairy of the Bog. Song is inspired by a 2000 year old mummified teenage girl found in a bog near Yde in the Netherlands. There is some evidence to indicate she may have been ritually sacrificed and this is all reflected in the lyrics that tell her story. kzbin.info/www/bejne/d5XVh414ftxkqJo

Hi... Try some female voice in Metall.. Try :Null positiv - wo Rauch ist, ist auch Feuer,,... /:,, War lock-I rule the..,, 🎸✌️💀
Hansi was the singer and at the same time the bass player of the band for the first 5 albums i think. His voice fits 100% with the sound of the band and though he has not the range or the quality of master heavy metal singers as Dio, Eric Adams (Manowar), Rob Halford (Judas Priest), Warrel Dane (Sanctuary - Nevermore), Geoff Tate (Queensryche), Midnight (Crimson Glory) or Ray Alder (Fates Warning), he sounds pretty good live.
