Cherry Opal from Mexico is ruby red. The oranges and yellows are called fire for the hues. Honey opal is a cloudy yellow brown base Australian type that sometimes had play of color (I think, but would be called fire in oregon for the hue) no play of color in the oregon fire opals. Some precious in thunder eggs from one mine. Precious refers to ONLY if it has rainbow color play, not from a crack and many do, that is precious fire opal. In America they called play of color fire to muddy the water or it was bourbon. We have clear white black & fire opals beside colored potch in virgin valley. Gem TV sold a lot of Fire Opal off Juniper Ridge, still claims all over and not even dug out. Contra Luz or backwards light opal is volcanic for the most part.
