Saying that injuries, blah, blah, blah, blah, was the issue. Every team has injuries. The good ones have backup that a good. Loomis' cap issue kept us from getting good backups, that and the last few drafts have not been good at all. Plus, keeping Dennis Allen after last years' debacle of a coaching was pathetic. You have old aging veterans on Defense that can't tackle, i.e. Tyrann Mathieu.

Because Detroit is the #1 seed in the NFC. They had some very close games that could have gone either way. The difference is they are a team who just went through a rebuild and are coming out of it. We SHOULD have been in a rebuild starting in 2019. Instead we pushed it down the road and made it worse. We are just entering ours. We now have no choice.
@mohavie2360Күн бұрын
@@jewagr007 whos fault was it to not go thru a rebuild? not all CEO of a company are good at everything. Being a GM of a football team is like a CEO of a company. his ego is whats in the way for this team to ever be a contender again. great leaders know where they lack in knowledge and will hire/surround themselves with great leaders who can fill certain voids. Sean is a great offensive coach but suck on defense. he recognized this and let the D coach do whatever they please on that side of the ball. Sean is not afraid to make a change if things doesnt work out. on the flip side, Mickey dont have the guts to make that change. u heard Dennis said if it were up to Mickey, he wouldnt have let DA go. does this sound like a great GM who would make the right decision when things get tough? in the end, Mickey need to go and be replaced by someone who is starving to win. a hungry man will eat whatever is neccessary to survive while a rich full man is very selective of his meals. Old Mickey is full from all those years and is complacent. there is this other guy name Khai Harley, a hungry younger man, who is starving eating in all the leftovers off of Mickey's plate. tell me who you think have a higher ceiling between them 2? im going with the younger hungry fella.
@jewagr007Күн бұрын
@mohavie2360 you can blame it all on ML but you can be wrong too. I fully believe that Sean was the main reason we are where we are. ML takes some of the blame but SP was the one pushing to "run it back" with Brees. 2016 was the starting point of our cap issues and it progressively has gotten worse since. ML is to blame for not starting the rebuild in 2019 however, in 2019 we had a core talent pool that was good enough to win the division and get to the playoffs. It didn't work so here we are. I am not an advocate for ML however I do believe that the situation this organization is currently in does not come close to resting solely on ML.

@@jewagr007 healthy convo.. yup, i could be wrong too since i do not know whats going on behind closed doors. what i do have is the proof of what we have seen on the field. Sean is now with Denver, in his second year with whatever talent he has. lets say it was Sean who had those powers here and would have in Den as well. just comparing the leadership we have here on the saints WITH virtually the same leaders we had when Sean was here, i can see our current Saints team is lacking that punch. then i watch that Den team from afar, during the season and in the playoffs. the mentality of the who team seem awefully familier to me.. that is the Saints team that was once here. i am not crying about losing Sean because he was just burnt out from sitting in one place for 16yrs and given us everything he had. i am very thankful for his gift to all of us. however, today as i see our saints organization, this whole team is missing that spark, hunger, energy, from top starting with Ms Gayle to all the way down to the equipment person. a great leader knows when to take the blame and put it on his/her shoulders because that will make them grow. weak people/leadership make bad times and we are going thru bad times.

My biggest takeaway from this press conference is whoever he hires (hopefully AG) the hc has the reigns for staffing. Look, even if Mickey believed DA to be a good football coach, no matter how much he liked his defensive mind (I did too) if its not working do not waste the whole season trying to prove it right. DA was not for the Saints and needed to move on. If Baun was not gonna work under the system why not go for a trade? Why let these dudes walk? If we have 61 players on contract then okay cool but the cap needs to be fixed either way. Finally, Im glad his biggest concern is injury prevention because supposedly the reason Kubiak's system was failing was due to certain guys not being on the field. Not gonna get fixed overnight but I feel this is his last year to be right or he's gone.
