I just saw this thumbnail, and it brought back the memory of a time I showed my friend my normal Raikou, and he said "WOAH, YOU HAVE A FREAKING SHINY RAIKOU!", and I was like "no i don't, what are you talking about?". He then showed me his Raikou. His shiny Raikou. He had never seen a normal Raikou and had only ever seen his shiny Raikou. I then proceeded to try to trick him into trading it to me, glad it didn't work, I would be damned to hell.

It took 1313 encounters, 13+13=26 which is the level of your Staryu and the name of your Staryu is RaikouPls which ultimately triggered the shiny. Isn't science amazing!

@@Alhalmeya Roamers aren't in your game until a certain point. This is the case with all Pokemon games. In this game, that point is giving Celio the Sapphire. Only then will Raikou be in the wild. Once that happens, all of his stats are preset. Including nature, IV's... and shininess. In other words you need to give Celio the Sapphire to put Raikou in the wild, then, without saving, check if he's shiny (which means going through the trouble of finding him) and if he isn't, reset all the way back to the point of giving Celio the Sapphire. EDIT: This is why he's able to run from Raikou, and when finding him again, he's still shiny.

You'd be surprised how often I get these comments lol. It's certainly interesting for sure. The game references it as caught but there's no Dex entry. The same thing happens in Ruby/Sapphire too. I believe it was fixed in Emerald.

Thank you! Really cool to see you comment on my videos btw, big fan of your videos from way back. 3rd Gen Roamer have a lot of glitches applicable to them as I'm sure you're aware. When the game notes that the Roamer has been seen in the dex and you have run from it, the game will flag it as "caught" even though there is no dex entry (this is a separate flag when the Pokémon is physically caught). This crosses over to the Roar glitch in which Roar will prevent it from re-appearing due to an extension of it being "caught" when the first roamer is seen. As a result, the Repeat Ball modifier is applied based on this glitch. It's very interesting and to me suggests these Pokémon were added very late in the finalisation of FR/LG due to the IV glitch, Roar glitch and the "registered as caught" glitch.

Because the generation point is when you give Celio the Sapphire. It's either shiny or not at that point.

Yes, completely doable. The generation point is as you say, the TV much like Celio with the Sapphire in these games. I will be doing Latios fairly soon like this.

How many encounters would you do for this in a day, on average? Seems like on some days you wouldn't even be able to do 20 encounters.

For Suicune a good day was 150-200 on two systems. Raikou is hard to say because it was single hunted next to other hunts. 50-100 was like five hours of hunting. Too variable to give you a solid answer really. Roamers are impossible to give definitive answers for.
